for 32" u really don't need to go 1080p. You can not see the difference between 1080i.
that ll slash like 100-200 from the price

a theoretical question

i am currently eying a TV at bestbuy, its the samsung LN46B610 OR LN46B640, but the problem is it's all sold out at every local bestbuy, they dont even list the 640 on the site anymore. I do see there are display models, now heres the theory, im not sure if it'll work.

What if I

a: buy the TV at retail price, but negotiate a 5 year FREE PSP out of them?

or

b: buy the TV below retail, pay for a 3 year PSP but ask to upgrade to a 5 year PSP?

or

c: buy the TV below retail (probably close to cost) and get a 5 year PSP for FREE (this option is very unlikely but hey its worth a shot since it's the last stock and a display model)

remember, the PSP part is important because i want to cover my ass due to the TV being a display model, and i dont know how much abuse it has gone through before i buy it.

would u still buy the TV because its a display model, or would u just stay far away from display models?

and just to double confirm so i dont misunderstand about the PSP, IF anything goes wrong, i can bring it back to bestbuy to get it repaired for FREE within the warranty time period, OR if they cannot repair it, i will get another TV of equal value as replacement?

thanks!

i am planning to get a PS3 (Slim) to accompany my TV, does it matter what brand of HDMI cables to get? If so, which ones should I get?

I think its a hit or miss with that one. I spent 15bucks on mine from a-power in richmond, and so far been running good for 2-3years.

Oh and, if you can afford it, bigger is always better. I regret getting a smaller tv

As long as you sit from a reasonable distance haha. I should've stuck with my 32" since I sit 5' away max! LOL

Now my eyes hurt, and I probably need glasses soon haha

Those cables were made before the 1.3b spec was released. It does not mean it won't work as well as the 1.3b speced cable.

ooh it has a lifetime guarantee, too bad you can buy 21 of the $12 cables for that

Tho that whole thing could fix into a few sentences:

Digital signal = wire is wire = it works or it doesn't = the guy from Futureshop is either an idiot, or a jackass.

The hilarious part is most at cost pricing for cables run $5-10 for the generic to $20-40 for the monsters at FS and BB.

actually, i have had personal experience with this, thats why i commented on making sure the cables r 1.3b speced

within 2 months, 2 different HDMI non 1.3b cables went ape shit on me.
it worked fine for 2ish weeks then out of no where it out not output 1080P from my ps3 to TV. i had to boot the PS3 in low res mode, and then tried every resolution, which all worked OTHER than 1080P. i went out and bought a 1.3b speced cable and voila problem solved.

so your cables crapped out, and you went to the assumption that because it isn't 1.3b, it didn't work? The spec shouldn't affect the lifespan.

i just got a toshiba 40XV648U from visions for a little over a grand... I also bought an HD shaw box. Is it worth it for me to upgrade the HDMI cables that come with the box? would the difference be noticable?
