Best place to get a TV

Im looking for a 32" 1080p LCD HDTV and was wondering where is the best/cheapest place to get one? TIA!!!

!MiKrofT 12-06-2009 08:47 PM

Me too. Best price I found was a Vizio 32" at costco. 549 I think.

twitchyzero 12-06-2009 08:47 PM

32 1080p's are hard to find
try visions or the mom n' pop's tv store on main st

Deezle 12-06-2009 09:02 PM

hmm, i've never heard about Vizio before, any knowledge about the quality on these?

Alatar 12-06-2009 09:10 PM

Vizios are pretty good. Costco automatically upgrades to 2 year warranty, too.

I`m running a 37" Vizio 1080P LCD that I picked up on my way back from California (in Portland, so as to avoid taxes and enviro fees). I've been using it since August, and it's great, to be honest. No ghosting/lagging in games, great colour, etc.

Definitely worth checking out or considering, given the price you can have them for.

The 37" Vizio isn't much more, at Costco. What are your plans, that limit you to 32"?

Deezle 12-06-2009 09:42 PM

Nice! seems pretty promising, ill def check it out, im planning to have it in my room and use it for gaming and watching movies (ps3). Since my room isn't very big i was looking towards 32"

skyxx 12-06-2009 10:28 PM

Vizio uses Sharp panels I believe. :)

imo bestbuy/futureshop is great for buying tv's

they have good selection, plus they will price match + 10% of the difference
and you get a 30-day returns + price guarantee.

can't ask for much else lol

32" 1080P is hard to find probably because it's not really necessary. With a TV that size you'd have to be sitting within a few feet from the screen to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. I think if you can find a good 720p 32" somewhere you could save a bit of money and have more selection. That being said however a 1080p TV will likely be better in other specs as well (contrast ratio, refresh etc.).

im looking for a samsung 37" - 42" TV during christmas / boxing day time

ideas?

Expresso 12-07-2009 09:06 AM

If you are looking for Sony's South Van on Main street has pretty good pricing. And they will try their best to price match. They do carry Samsung as well.

I ended up getting my Samsung at Bestbuy though. At the time they had the best price and was in stock.

Hondaracer 12-07-2009 09:13 AM

Futureshop.

BB sucks cause the idiot sales people aren't on commision so they don't give a shit if you buy or not

FS on the other hand, they will try to make sure you walk out with somthing, and they take well to threats of going elsewhere lol

Gt-R R34 12-07-2009 10:08 AM

Don't wait, just buy now, and if you get a better price @ Boxing day, they'll match that back.Just buy on credit.

I just picked up from FS.ca the 52" Z series Sony for 1799. 240hz refresh rate ;)

LED, right now, is only used for the backlighting. It is a bit better, but not a true LED TV.

The most important difference (IMO) between LCD and Plasma, is that the Plasma has to have a sheet of glass over the front layer, so if you have any big windows or lots of light in the room, go LCD. If it's going to be in a dedicated media room/in a basement or something, then it's a bit more open.

yes but FS is annoying as hell, they will hassel u till ur balls fall off in order to sell you that bs warranty shit

Expresso 12-07-2009 11:27 AM

^^^ Same. I usually know what I want, usually head to BB cause I can price match easier cause it won't hit their commission. And I don't have to have a 15 minute conversation about warranties.

Mugen EvOlutioN 12-07-2009 11:56 AM

the guy in richmond FS was being very nice until i basically told him no i aint fucking paying a cent for warranty cuz i dont need that shit. He pretty much just walks away and left me all by myself checking out the shit that im buying

**Requires HDTV Source
means that you can't just hook up an SD signal and expect it to turn into HD. You'll need an HD package from Shaw if you expect to watch any TV in HD.

Also, to everyone:

With a digital signal, cable is cable. It either works or it doesn't order your cables online or pick them up from a smaller store, don't buy them from FS as FS has a huge markup on cables. Superstore should have 6ft HDMI cables for $10, they work great.
