| Quickest way to SFU in the morning
I need to arrive at a job site in SFU tmr morning at 9am. I live near Grandview Highway and Rupert (where the new Canadian Tire is) and I just wanna know if it'll be quicker to take Hastings, Highway 1, or some other route.
TIA

^haha... if you need to be there by 9AM I would just take the highway and get off at Gaglardi and up you go... Traffic wouldn't be that bad if you're going around 8:15AM. You'd be on and off anyway.

hwy1 is slower because the distance traveled is farther and out of the way. I live basically between hastings and 1st ave so either method works and i've found hastings (or better yet, parker/curtis is faster) to be faster.
but then since you live near grandview hwy/rupert, there's no point going all the way to hastings.
so just take #1. As mentioned, it should be pretty quick in the morning.

so just take #1. As mentioned, it should be pretty quick in the morning. | Compared to Hastings to Highway #1 route, I don't think it's slower because you're traveling at a higher speed on the highway. From my experience they seem to be about the same in terms of travel time.
For you though it might be longer though because in addition to traveling too far east, you're also heading south an addition distance. But at Grandview and Rupert the travel towards the southern direction is minimal.
Personally, I always went down Parker/Curtis. But the school zones were very annoying.

I can pretty much get to SFU via parker/curtis in about 15mins iirc (live between 1st and hastings, near playland area), there's no way I can make it that fast if I take the highway. Not to mention once you get onto gaglardi, the fucking lights at lougheed hwy take FOREVER and you are pretty much guaranteed to get there when it is red.
but yeah either way the op should take the highway since he's already pretty south.
for parker
I actually don't mind the school zones lol since you really don't lose that much time. It always gives me a good laugh every time the cops pull over some idiot who decides to not obey 30 sign. I've seen that happen at least 3 times this semester and I barely drive to school....
the only 'new' thing that slows you down is the traffic light change on willingdon (westbound parker now has advance green. well not "new" but it is a recent change). So that adds to the wait.

I used to have to do that exact same run, except my start point was Boundary + Lougheed. And my run was at 0800-0830.
Fastest way: Lougheed -> Willingdon -> Hastings -> up the mountain.
Trust me, Hwy #1 + Gaglardi is NOT faster. The extra distance more than kills any increase in speed. It's like +4 km if I remember correctly. My coworkers and I tested this many times. They'd beat me by a good 5 minutes by taking the suggested route.
Neither is Parker. You'll run smack into 2 school zones full of kids and parents.
Boundary itself is fast, but the stretch of Hastings between Boundary and Willingdon has like 10 traffic lights.
One big advantage of Lougheed -> Willingdon is there's a nice long L turn signal. The only slow point in Hastings east of Willingdon are the Alpha/Beta/Gamma lights, but once you're through, you're golden. Oh, and the popo like to tag speeding eastbound students there.
Which company is this? I'm wondering if we're talking about the same one.

Can't you just leave the house earlier...? There isn't much difference between any of the routes suggested.
