Most of these would never get approved by the bylaw people around here, especially the ones that have no railings on one side! If you ever slipped off of one of those sides, it'd ruin your day real fast, especially if your foot caught on something on the way down. And if your buddy is the one who slipped, hope you have a good house insurance policy and lawyer friend.
Many do look cool but other than #2, some are simply fugly. I'm sure the novelty of some of these would wear off after the first week or so; more so if you have to move stuff between floors. Say you wanted a 60" plasma TV but only had that spiral staircase..

I wouldn't mind some of them, if they added on a railing on both sides for safety. Like #1 or #3.
Some require walking with a certain feet first, and depending whether you're left foot or right foot (or maybe there's no relation at all), some might find it akward to use an opposite foot for the first step, which will lead to lots of PK-ing for the first few weeks.
The glass stair case looks pretty feasible, and probably already in some rich guy's house.
Besides it being made of glass, the design is pretty standard.
I don't understand how #11 is even innovative. No treads? Hanging lightly?
The only "special" thing I see is that between the first step (playform) and the 2nd step, it's not connected...
My personal favourite is actually the library one. Not because I like books, but only because it's a secret passage to a secret room.
