honestly, i completely agree with you about it being a waste of money for what you can see, but for me i will always be able to say i attended the FIRST UFC event in BC. It will be an honour to be a part of something that special. I rarely go to live sporting events just because the TV view is better ;) HD FTW!!!

I still think that Penn will headline this PPV. He doesn't fight in Vegas anymore and usually takes 5-6 months after his last fight to his next.

Maynard fights in January...so if he wins and doesn't get seriously hurt. then I see that matchup... otherwise, it could be Penn/Edgar fight.

And possibly have Kalib Starnes as the Co-Headliner

great way to promote mindless fighting, just in time for Olympics.

Maybe it's just me, but I've watched a few matches myself and most fights have the exact same pattern

1) ding ding ding
2) 2 guys circling around poking long range jabs
3) 2 guys gets closer and then hitting each other randomly
4) 1 guy eventually falls and the other guy rides him & give him a 50 hit combo
5) Blood everywhere
6) Game Over

you must be a boring guy, or into boring shit.

If I had it my way, people would still be wearing top coats and fedoras to hockey games, like they did at the Montreal Forum or Maple Leaf Gardens.

In my opinion, MMA is the HEIGHT of ANY physical sport. Can you tell me whats more primal than training your own body to the fullest of its extent? Whats more stupid, training with a metal rod trying to hit a round object the size of your balls into a hole the size of your balls on a field where thousands can live on, or training your own body to its peak where you can dominate someone in a closed arena to a point where they cannot fight back? That is a true sport. And if you actually chose to watch some of these fights, these are not dog fights. They fight with technique, where body size and mass are only part of the equation. Watch the UFC top 100 and you will be able to see how back in UFC 1 and 2 a lanky guy can use jiu jitsu to submit almost anyone who challenged him. It has evolved so much since than with people training in all aspects of sports fighting to create something where you try to balance your style in order to stand up to any kind of opponent in any kind of fighting.

And if you tried to understand the sport you will see how much respect a lot of these fighters have. They start out the fight with death in their eyes because this is the ultimate competition: your in a ring by yourself with bare hands fighting someone with no help from teamates and padding, and only your mind and body to protect yourself. When the fight is over the hate is over and they show each other SO much respect for the skill and heart that they showed in a sport where winning means you have ultimately dominated the other person. That's REAL respect and that's why i've grown to love this sport more and more. I'm really glad its finally comming to vancouver, and cant wait to see GSP because he deserves so much respect, and gives so much respect.

I felt closer to this with the original UFC. Not today's UFC.

I miss watching the heydeys of Tank Abbot or Vitor Belfort.

Unless you are going to fork out 1k ring side tickets.. Anything else is just a waste of money and you wont be able to see shit.

I went to 106 in Vegas and paid $375 and had a pretty good view, better than people who paid $1000 for floor seats and were sitting 8 rows back from the ring.

I heard that you might be better off in the second row as the cage does seem to obstruct a lot of the fight.

They'll introduce the first UFC 100m sprint for Kalib.

I used to like MMA when it actually was mixed martial arts. You used to see different martial arts styles against each other like karate vs muay thai. Now all I see on the highlights are two guys hugging each other on the ground. The best thing about MMA back then was the only rules were really enforced were no biting and no eye gouging

KuSouL 12-18-2009 07:09 PM

PPV FTW ... watching live = surrounded by gangstas yo

Qmx323 12-18-2009 07:22 PM
