Netbooks... Acer vs HP vs Asus which would you choose?

I'm in need of a netbook asap. Looking around they basically all have the same generic specs: 1.6ghz, 120-160gb, 1gb ram etc.

I notice that acers are cheaper than HP and Asus... and from experience my Acer laptop's screen literally broke off.

Which brand would you chose?

I'd go with ASUS, had some bad experiences with Acer products.

I'm looking at getting the 1101HA or maybe spend a bit more and get the 1201N once they are in stock again.

they have 12"ers now? lame that's laptop territory.

anyways yeah asus is a bit pricier but it's worth the build quality & reliability..not to mention the newer ones have batteries that lasts 8-10 hours

HP's netbooks have the best keyboards of the 3 and, at least at my store, are returned far less often than Acer's netbooks and Acers tend to come in more often for repairs (and this is at a store where HP outsells Acer).

From experience 7-9" netbooks are too small, only good for kids or people with tiny hands that dont mind straining their eyes. 10" netbooks are a good size but I prefer the 11" Acer line up, check em out.

imho, once you hit 12" its practically a laptop, the only difference would be weight and processing power.

You realize that the 11" Acer netbooks you speak of are actually 11.6", right ?

A 0.4" larger screen isn't going to make much of a difference ...

The Acer 10.1" netbooks suck, the keyboard is the same as the 8.9"'s and it's really small and hard to type on. I'd take a look at Asus or Samsung.

Went and bought the 1101HA today. It was on sale this week for 389.99 compared to the 1201N which is 539.99. 12" is a bit too big but the specs on it were really nice. For what I need it for though the 1101HA made more sense especially for the price. Also the 1201N isn't even in yet so I would have to wait a few weeks.

HP and Acer are pretty much the same in terms of quality. Asus would be the best of all 3.

wow thanks guys, really glad i didn't go with acer. hearing so many bad things about them.

I looked at the HP keyboard, didn't really like that some of them had a tiny left shift key. That's the only shift key that I use.

Anyone had any experience with Dell Netbooks?

Dell used to be good.....but they're beginning to crap out in quality. My last XPS had keys that were beginning to fall off after a few months of use - and i didn't even use it to play games.

I used to always think Asus netbook is the best from other ppl's opinions...but then after looking at the real thing, I realize Asus netbook has ULTRA GLOSSY screen which is a pain in the ass to read outdoor or in bright office area...
The keyboard is also less comfortable than samsung and LG.

so bottom line, go take a look at the real thing first before you narrow down your search.
