It's not just the Chinese, the Japanese and other East Asians also look down on those with darker skins and look up to white skin.

Japanese women spend hundreds of millions of dollars a year buying make-up to make their skin white. Check out any Japanese wedding and you'll see.

I don't look the least bit chinese (although my white friends say they can totally see it after i tell them) but i understand mandarin/cantonese/etc perfectly and i hear racism all the time from chinese ppl young or old(not all chinese ppl mind u but a lot that its no surprise to hear of it) directed at me or at brown/black/filipinos/etc anything

i don't think the mothers infidelity is really an issue, im sure at the time it was but the China of today isn't that of yesterday; it seems like the issue is that it was a black guy that's the issue
