04 tsx ipod

what's the best way to hook up an ipod to an 04 tsx? i'm guessing i need some kind of kit but i also want to be able to control the volume and music from the steering wheel controls and the deck.

The iSimple ISIM71 will work with the 2004 TSX but will NOT display the text on your readout. It will however control and charge your Ipod.
Only 2005 and up (or US models with XM feature) will display the text. I can order one of those for you if you need it.

The other option for that car is to have a custom kit made to take the place of the lower cubby. You can put a real deck in there with Ipod control, bluetooth, more advanced audio controls, USB drive capability and of course more power than the stock deck. Custom kit and deck with Ipod and steering wheel control will run you about $500.

The stock stereo and HVAC controls would still light up and techincally work - just no sound out of the deck. These 6-disc in dash players are well known to break after a few years so its just a matter of time before yours freezes up and bites it.

I am putting a Kenwood 993 in my Cubby. I'm going to try and keep the door so the deck can be hidden away when I want it to.

I searched around but coulnd't find any pics of this procedure. I have done it though and its not a problem.

I used one of these. It plugs into the CD Changer jack underneath your stereo (you have to pull out your "this is not an ashtray" cubbyhole and plug it in). Cables route to my glovebox. (I threw an old 5G iPod on there that I got cheap off CL)

I have steering wheel control of the tracks from there. You can also use your station presets for playlists if you want.

The adapter also has a regular 3.5mm jack in case your buddies want to plug their non-Apple MP3 players in there as well.

Very simple install (hardest part was pulling out the cubbyhole) and works great.

Description: iSimple Media Gateway interface for Select Acura, Honda, Scion, Toyota and Lexus vehicles
MSRP: $189.95

I'm guessing that's USD and without shipping

EDIT: Best Buy in the US sells it for $150 but isn't listed for sale on the Canadian site. Best bet is to eBay it if you want it for less than retail and shipped to Canada (although shipping might be steep)
