EATONVILLE, WA (NEWS1130) - Two police officers are recovering from critical gunshot wounds in Washington State. It's the second shooting targeting police in less than a month. This one started with a domestic violence call.
When the Sergeant and Sheriff Deputy arrived at the home in Eatonville, south of Tacoma, one of the men involved in the fight in the house, went upstairs, grabbed a gun and started shooting. The officers were hit a number of times before firing back, killing the gunman.
Connie Zelat lives in the neighbourhood, "Very very sad, I just can't believe it. It's the third time in a row that this happens in our community and it just makes you wonder what is going on around here, why is it getting like this?"
A member of the Pierce County Sheriff's office admits everyone is stunned by last night's shooting.

SEATTLE (NEWS1130) - One of the sheriff's officers shot while responding to a domestic dispute a week ago in Washington State, has died. Deputy Kent Mundell was shot while trying to remove a drunk suspect from his home in Pierce County. Mundell shot back and killed the man.
Pierce County Sheriff's Detective Ed Troyer says it's unfortunate that there's no one to hold accountable for Mundell's death, "There's no suspect. The suspect is dead and there is nobody to answer to and there's no answer that will make any sense as to why this happened."
Mundell died surrounded by his wife and children. He was 44. His death marks the sixth area law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty in two months.
