For reference:

Busses must turn left from kootenay ave onto hastings to get to their route going eastbound (the direction the bus was going in. The bus was ON ITS WAY OUT OF THE STATION. The light is simply a 4-way stoplight with no left arrows in any way. There was no u-turning being done. My pictures were taken from the north side of the street looking southwest. The tarp on the bus was on the front as well as the front left wheel. There are two possibilities for the strike:
1) Jaywalk/corner cut: she was running to get somewhere and did one of those (most likely wearing dark colours) and the driver slammed on the brakes but nailed her anyways
2) Driver weren't paying attention and nailed her in the crosswalk and dragged her.

These options both assume that there were no other factors (ie: homeless/crazy/old/fallen/etc).

Hope this clears some stuff up.

Should be pretty obvious... they don't want the public to see the corpse.

rip to the woman..pretty unique news i dont think i've ever read local news where bus driver kills a ped

if any vehicle that's making a left turn at an intersection running into ANYTHING at all the vehicle operator is at fault.

Remember, a left turning vehicle has the LEAST priority compared to any other activities on the intersection.

So the bus driver is either dozing out or the lady ran into his blind spot, either way the bus is at fault for failing to yield to pedestrian traffic going in any direction regardless of the light.

Unless, of course, there was a left turn green arrow and the pedestrian crossing was showing the stale orange hand.... But a green ball doesn't mean anything for left turners.

This also happened at 7:15 in the morning it would have still been pitch dark which does make it harder to see someone.

We need a new law where jaywalkers are always at fault.

Fucking idiots need to understand right of way is never greater than physics.

You don't ever see an ocean liner yield to row boats, why should we drivers be any different.

jaywalkers are always at fault already... if there are witnesses.... two of my friends have been hit by cars jaywalking, and when the cops showed up, they gave them tickets for jaywalking and the driver was declared not at fault by icbc
