Dog Attacks Cougar to Save Boy

headline news for today:

Quote:
BOSTON BAR, B.C. — Austin Forman figures he owes his life to his aptly-named dog Angel. The Golden Retriever saved his eleven-year-old owner Saturday when he stepped between the boy and an advancing cougar.

watched it on tv, the dead cougar wasn't that big, but still bigger than the dog... (they said in the report watched that the dog was a 18mo old golden/labrador retriever mix)? they showed cameraphone footage of the dog after the police officer came and shot the cat just standing there quietly with blood running down one side of her face... wow.

There's a reason they call them mans best friend, most dogs will die for their owners.

When I was this kids age my dog saved me from getting attacked by a huge dog. Come in the backyard and this dog comes in the other gate that was left opened and backs me up against the fence snarling and growling getting ready to attack. My dog that I thought was inside came flying out from under our deck and kicked it's ass sending it running with its tail between its legs, DOGS RULE!

dogs pretty much evolved alongside humans when first domesticated thousands of years ago

THE PREQUEL

Quote:
A cougar attack on a toboggan hill was thwarted by a mother armed with just a dish towel who rushed to the aid of her seven-year-old boy in northern B.C.

David Metzler Jr. was tobogganing on Thursday near Danskin, B.C., about 1,000 kilometres north of Vancouver, with his sister when the cougar started mauling him.

"I looked out the window … the cougar was already on top of him," said the boy's mother, Mary Metzler. "It had its mouth on Davey's head."

Metzler ran out of her house with only a dish towel in her hand and used it to swipe at the cougar.

"It dropped Davey's tuque [from its mouth]. It looked at me eye to eye and then it turned and ran," the boy's mother said.

i had to read that news over twice to made sure i read it right...

these cougars are becoming panzies..first confronted by a golden recievers then a ..DISH TOWEL?pretty interesting how she didnt grab a knife or something but i guess when you see your son's head inside a cougar's mouth your brain won't think properly.

I hope the two 2 cougars attacks in such a short span of time is coincidence...i guess their normal prey is harder to find this year.

cougars are SUPER rare, it's odd to see so many encounters/attacks

my uncle who's worked in the forest service for like 35 years has never once seen a cougar in person, and he's out in the bush 3 of the 5 days of the week and he lives in Cranbook

even a good friend of my other uncle who's like a crazyyy outdoors man, hikes days to back country lakes etc. has only ever seen 2 of them in his entire life, and he's been living in Inveremere his whole life and has been hunting/fishing/hiking since he was a young kid
