| Parking in Yaletown?
Where do you guys park when you're in Yaletown? ie Hamilton St., Mainland etc.
...seems like all the free spots are taken on Saturday nights, as are meter spots...and the next option is to park in a garage far away and walk in the rain?
Anyone have any secret spots they wanna make un-secret? |

No such thing as free parking in downtown. Plus they change the meters already from free after 8pm to 10pm and it cost 2 dollars for half an hour.

You have to know your way around to know all the spots.

Down pacific boulevard, and the smaller residental streets towards the burraurd inlet are all free non-metered.
There's plenty free, but they're all taken by around 7 or 8pm.

to those that are advising me to skytrain:
skytrain cost:
$2: park and ride cost at bridgeport station
$3.75x4=$15: cost for two people to go there and back
total to skytrain: $17
driving cost:
$12: 2 hours of meter parking in yaletown (assuming i have to pay)
$3: gas..total guess here, but sounds reasonable
total to drive: $15
...raped by bc transit :-(

...raped by bc transit :-( | Its 2 bucks all zones on the weekend (unless they changed it during the olypmics)
so..
Skytrain cost:
$2: Parking
$2 x 4 = $8: Skytrain
Total to bus: $10 (weekend)
Driving cost:
$12: 2 hours of meter parking + stress of driving/parking downtime
$3: gas..total guess here, but sounds reasonable (but with traffic/looking for parking/idling you may pay more
total to drive: $15 + more depending on conditions
I was like you and much preferred driving then busing downtown, but once i realized how easy/relatively inexpensive it was (compared to parking d/t) I became a believer.

ooooo thanks for the info. Does friday night count as a weekend to them?
yeah i'm all for skytraining, after 4 years at sfu lol...but depends on the occasion and what i'll be doing.
PS
I dunno about a half a tank of gas, due to idling etc. lol...but i agree with your point either way.

so i parked in yaletown on drake st. at 5:30pm yesterday (saturday). It was so dead and so many spots, that even in yaletown there were spots, right on hamilton streets. Prolly combo of dead time + canucks game :-D
Oh, and i paid via phone and i think the software fucked up, cause i got 2 hours of parking for $3 LOL win. https://www.verrus.com/verrus/index.aspx |

Yeah, it usually starts to get busy after 630ish. I went down for dinner a few weeks back at 6 and plenty of spots too.
