| Moral Dilemma: Take a job just to leave after a month or two
Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to look.
Here is where I stand right now: I'm waiting for CN Rail to get back to me for a railway conductor position. I'm currently a pool candidate for the next set of training classes, supposed to be starting January/February. I'm part time at a crappy job and have a mortgage to pay off still along with some debt.
The temp agency I work for (on the side away from my other P/T job) has offered me a position with a company doing administrative duties, paying a little over $18/hour. I like the idea that it's paying more than what I get at my current job AND it's full time, benefits, etc.
This is where my dilemma comes in for me: I don't want to say yes to this new job only to quit within the month to go to the railway job which will pay substantially more (not to mention it's the career path I want, and it has more room for opportunity). I know that I will pass the training portion for the railways, but the admin job is a sure thing. I'm just not sure where to go from here right now.

I agree with the above poster. In this situation, you have to look out for yourself. Money is always an issue and you need the cash flow to keep coming in. I'm sure that temp company will totally understand. In the end run, isn't it about the money.

If you're with a temp agency, that's what it comes down to - you're a temp. Temps come and go and it's never personal.

Sorry, should clarify, its a few months as temp to go onto a full time employee with the company hiring through the temp agency. With it all being said, I did ask to have my name put in for the interview, but that interview should be in a few weeks time. Hopefully hear back from CN before that. Posted via RS Mobile |

Good luck getting in with CN. With the economy where it`s at right now, if you get hired, you`ll be on a call board and lucky to get 1 or 2 shifts a month. I`d keep the job you have now, at least it`s steady. Wait until you hear yes or no from CN, then decide what to do from there.

I plan to do the same thing to tide me over before I start goin to school again. As for CN, my friend was tryin to get into something for CN and he seemed to think it was a pretty viable idea, but they turned him down. So as said above, dont jump the gun and ruin something potentially good.
