the link on #6 just increased its creepiness by 10 fold. id never go there alone at night hahah

maxx 01-06-2010 08:06 PM

haha, when i clicked the link i thought about chernobyl right away and was going to post some more horror pics about it. i lived 500kms away from there during the accident and post.

moky 01-06-2010 08:07 PM

i've been to the winchester mansion just this past december and with the tour they give, it's not as creepy as it seems. of course it's an entirely different thing if u go alone at night and start getting lost along the many rooms and doorways

its really not that exciting, 500 kms is almost across the country, so it was quite far but as the radiation effects were felt as far as iceland, i still consider that is pretty close.

we just had a mad winter that year. 6 meters of snow at one point, -35 and the rest of the year the weather was messed up.

it was pretty bad, i was a kid back then, so i didnt understand, but my mom's co-workers went there 7 days before the explosion and were destined to stay for 3 weeks to report on the ecological damages that the plant was creating.

they never came back.

the last 4 pics are a school, or was a school

you'd have to be a complete idiot to go anywhere near that city. radiation levels will subside to a "safe" level in 100-150 years. they say its safe now my ass. my Mom at the time was working with a ecological organization which closely monitored that god forsaken place. they are only saying its safe so they can get tourism. if you have untreatable cancer - go for it, it'll be the trip of a lifetime.

Everybody who was working to evacuate the population died within 1 week.
Everybody who was working to evacuate the workers of the powerplant itself, died within 12 hours.
Almost 8/10 of the population of the city perished in 5 years.
The other 2/10 have unseen mutations and are fucked.

RevYouUp 01-06-2010 09:11 PM

i say the forest should be #1 man those pics are fking gruesome

Noir 01-06-2010 09:28 PM

Nice. I thought this kind of shit was BS because of the way it's written but I just asked my wife about the Aokigahara Forest and she freaked out at the thought of it.

I guess this shit is legit.

i dunno about an idiot but yea, you are going to be taking on radiation

they offer tours of the city now, i would fucking LOVE to go on the tour, i'm very fascinated with Chernobyl

even today, if you search on youtube they are actually doing research within the sarcophagus [the tomb in which the blown reactor is stored] scientists are inside the walls seeing the exact extent of the damage, it's pretty fucking crazy like pure titanium walls and lead screens are melted down into fucking weirddddd shapes and mounds

but yea, i dont find pripyat to be that scary, way more interesting

from those pics that resort with all those weird domes looks the creepiest to me

KuSouL 01-06-2010 09:46 PM

i dont think i have the guts to go to any of those places alone ...
... damn good read

!Tigger 01-06-2010 10:18 PM

i would only go to those places with friends in the morning, never at night ... maybe the japan one. since its only dead bodies..

It's okay, I shot the guy in the face on some bridge in Russia. Too bad my buddies Gaz and Sgt. Griggs were killed and Cpt. Price was taken as a political prisoner. :(

everything i've watched recently i downloaded via torrents

if you just google chernobyl documentries then torrent some of the longer ones

the one where they are going inside the sarcoughagus is insane, it has some very good footage of the recovery workers building the casing etc.

days after the explosion when they were clearing off the roof to build the tomb they would have these little 2 minute sprint shifts where you'd take a shovel or something and knock as much debris off as possible then rush back to get cleaned off, they all died within days regardless

Yeah I'm pretty baffled I havent visited it. Doubt anyone would actually bring me there though considering how everyone's so superstitious haha.

I have only heard about the UFO houses in recent years and i had no knowledge it was just on the outskirts of Taipei

I read up more about it and apparently has been demolished last year and they're building another beach resort again.

damn that forest is freaky. And the bridge one is just weird wonder why the dogs keep umping off of it.

slammer111 01-07-2010 12:23 AM

I'm surprised they didn't include the Killing Fields just outside Phnom Penh, Cambodia, or the Catacombs underneath Paris and Rome. Again, piles, and piles of bones.

Not sure about the layout in CoD4 but they did a really good job on Pripyat. If you do your research they actually got many of the buildings almost spot on.

Actually, the thing in the game about the Geiger counter is true; the town is littered with areas that are "free" from radiation but others that were so contaminated you'd literally drop dead in hours. In many cases these zones were only steps away from the "free" areas, so there you didn't want to walk in the wrong direction. Very much like a minefield.

The one that always got me was the swimming pool:

:lol I've seen those pods back in Taiwan... didn't seem scary at all.

yeah, i was pretty surprised by it after seeing real photos of the real place. ie, the building where you camp out to kill the guy, the layout of the field in front of the ferris wheel, the swimming pool

i'm guessing you havn't played MW2 yet :P

AzNightmare 01-07-2010 02:30 AM

Yup, that CoD4 level was kinda creepy in it's own way. So deserted... but so accurate.
Awesome FPS level, plus the fact you get to run around in a ghillie suit.
