you know whats gonna be crazy...comming home from across asia..and arriving on the 16th of feb...chinese new year and olympic arrivals at the gate....thats gonna fucked. |
The following streets will be closed to vehicles starting in January, but those who live or work in these areas will continue to have access to their homes or workplaces, according to officials... ;) Yay! |
thank god i work and live in burnaby...work is 4 blocks from my house...shouldnt be too hard for me to commute :D |
FUHHHHHHH. this has been my biggest headache for the past couple weeks. i work right in the heart of yaletown and even today it took me 20 minutes from main/terminal to drive to pacific/davies. i live in bby so i think i might just camp out at my parents place and just walk to work. driving is going to be a gongshowwww |
I'll be moving during those 2 weeks, don't think there should be much problems going from oakridge area to magee area... just gotta take 49th. Only areas here affected are granville with the no stopping and cambie for the olympic lane. |
trip to vegas or visit the green hell again one thing is for sure. i wont be in town. |
I'll have to postpone my job search to after Olympics then since I won't be able to go anywhere anyway. |

Traffic gonna be chaotic. I don't get why they put no parking signs on streets that are one lane. How the fuck is that suppose to free up traffic of any sort, it just prevents people from parking in front of their house. Either way, it's still one lane in the end. |
Teleportation. Don't ask, I can't say anymore. |
My commute will be mostly unaffected. I'm still going to wake up an hour earlier to get to work before the rush. |
Taking off to mexico for 1 week. Then taking it up the ass in traffic. |
my plan is to stay home and watch the games on tv :) |
read in the paper today most park n' ride stations & d/t stations + broadway will have ~45min wait and up to 2 hours wait during peak hours. So i feel sorry for whoever's gotta work in d/t during those weeks I'll still be heading to UBC during those weeks so I hope it wont take too long bussing there either (just a few hockey games held there ) |
If I get the olympic job then leave car at home and skytrain downtown. Posted via RS Mobile |
My plan is to go drive more. especially around those venues, going slower than speed limits. Just for fun. |

As a regular Skytrain commuter, I don't understand how the system can expect to end up with 2+ hour lineups at stations. I've seen the system get congested during snow storms, etc. and the waits aren't that bad (~30-45 minutes) Trains will be running every 108 seconds with a capacity of 350-530 per train. Where does Translink come up with these estimates when: - There's only one Olympic venue downtown: GM Place. The media will have their hotels downtown and so will the wealthy tourists. - There's still a lot of Olympic rental supply outside the downtown core - People will be taking time off during the Olympics and thus not commuting - There is a substantial minority in the GVRD who despise the Olympics and will be leaving town, staying home, etc. The Canada Line may be busy because of transport to and from the Airport and the Olympic Oval, but the regular Expo Line going into downtown shouldn't be that bad. But maybe, I'm underestimating the celebratory nature of Vancouverites; all bets are off though if people come downtown just to walk around and party. |
Thank God for the 2 week reading break. |

You believe translink when they said the trains will be on time? You believe translink when they state the trains are longer and accomodate more? Lies to fool the masses and placate the ignorant. Remember the switch fuck up they had a few weeks ago that shut down the line from joyce to waterfront for a solid 2 hrs during rush hour? It crippled the system. I am hoping so damn hard that something like that happens during the olympics. Translink can't even get their fare machines working on a reliable basis. FUCKING SKYTRAIN. |
taking a plane to HK, screw the olympics |
I work right by the Steam Clock in Gastown, so I'll be taking the bus everyday, just like I do now... |
carpool and if it doesn't rain maybe some scooter action |

As for work I work near Science World and to work I am going to car pool with my dad(to avoid skytrain). On the way home I am taking the skytrain straight to waterfront and I am not getting off, just letting the skytrain loot me the other way and get off at metro to take the bus home. Or car pool with my dad or co-worker during those time. |
