"Rape Vans" (Dajiban) are the new trend in Japan

Saw this on another board and had to share the awesomeness.

People have been asking what this is in the "2010 trends" thread, so I thought I'd make an appearance thread about it. I suppose it's like any other wacky JDM style (i.e. shakotan, yanky, vanning-zoku, Dekotora, etc), but I think this one is tits.

I first stumbled across this back in July on the Japanese RS Watanabe website in the "owner car" section.

It's been referred to as "Youga Base" style, "Hentai Vans", and a few other things, but apparently they just refer to their cars as "Dajjibans", or Dodge Vans. The Katakana to search for is "ダッジバン".

If anyone finds any new blogs, sites, or images related to the Dajjiban thing, post them in here. I want moar.

The Basics:
-Dodge Vans (I've yet to see anything else, but maybe they don't get other American vans over there)
-Lowering
-Deep dish low-offset wheels (often 6-lug RS Wats, but I've seen Diamonds and others)
-White lettered tires
-minimalist interiors (CF, racing wheels, not typical van stuff, lots of period American stickers, very eclectic)
-V8 performance mods

They appear to be actually tracking these vans, which is absurd, but ****ing rad.

Here's the "Youga Base" blog site:

I have to look and see if the USDM vans have these same tails. Looks different for some reason.

shenmecar 01-08-2010 12:14 PM

damn, i thought old perverted japanese automotive enthusiasts cruise in this thing around the time school girls get off school and mug, rape and drop off said school girl on their way home.

But then again, that wouldnt be a new trend, NYC had this going on for a long time, except they use limos.

Jsunu 01-08-2010 12:19 PM

Huh, thought this was gonna be like bang bus.. but you know.. japanized... ie rape bus

Great68 01-08-2010 12:23 PM

Damn my company has one of those exact dodge rams that they just decommissioned from being a work van sitting in the parking lot. Hmmmmm....

q0192837465 01-08-2010 12:55 PM

Leopold Stotch 01-08-2010 01:28 PM

hal0g0dv2 01-08-2010 01:56 PM

Pumbaa 01-08-2010 02:23 PM

Mugen EvOlutioN 01-08-2010 02:45 PM

Lomac 01-08-2010 02:49 PM

I don't know whether I should be impressed or horrified that they're modifying cargo vans? :lol

GabAlmighty 01-08-2010 02:58 PM

Never thought about doing that. Been wanting a lifted version of a rape van for quite some time. Preferably a camperized one. 350 chevy 4x4? Yes.

jackmeister 01-08-2010 03:48 PM

we need a good reason why its called "rape van".

doesnt seem like anyone's getting any pussy there.

JSALES 01-08-2010 03:57 PM

it probably rapes majority of the ricer civics out there, thus the "rape" van

ELITE_TRAYUNZE 01-08-2010 06:19 PM

lol, look at this Mr. T with his A-Team van.

hk20000 01-08-2010 06:32 PM

Nowhere in the article does it say RAPE and hentai can mean "perverted" in many ways just like the same word in English can be.

So the word rape is unjustified and misleading as hell. Dajjiban literally translates to Dodge Van....

asian_XL 01-08-2010 06:39 PM

weird choice, I bet there's not many Dodge van in Japan..
I'd pick VW van instead

Have none of you seriously heard the term "rape van?" They're named as such because they're typically windowless (and those that have windows are typically deeply tinted) and have a huge space in the back that isn't taken up by seats. What more would a would-be rapist need in a vehicle?
