Need help from MR2 owners

My car is not idling properly and my technician is suspecting I have a faulty ECU. I need to borrow a 91-92 USDM MR2 turbo ECU to compare for a couple days. Please let me know if you or your friend has a spare one. You can pm, email or call me @ 604-614-9886. Thanks for your help.

ECUs rarely ever go wrong. What exactly did your mechanic do to troubleshoot your idling issue and describe the idling issue further. We can't help you unless you give us more information.

Did you unscrew any of the screws on your AFM that sits just to the side oft he airbox? If you did, that's your problem, and you're hosed... you have to get a new one can't fix it either (not without painstaking work and even then no guarantees)... lots of people do it, there are 2 clips you are supposed to use to remove it but most people just see the screws and undo it...

which motor? 3s-gte? Check your TPS i HIGHLY doubt your ecu has gone bad unless you were driving your car under water...

Check everything else before you replace your ecu that should be your last resort

The car was running perfectly fine with the ATS C27 with the 440cc ROM tune, but it barely idles (running supe rich) after the ATS TD06, 264 cams and 550cc injectors swap with the ATS 550 ROM chip. All the injector o-rings are brand new; injectors were also cleaned and flow tested by witchhunter. The AFM and TPS were un-touched, cams were also properly degreed according to HKS spec. My technician suspects there is something wrong with 550 ROM chip and needs an OEM ECU to test the idle. Could someone please help me ASAP, thanks.

It sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Do all the basics by checking to see if you have a possible vacuum leak before we jump to a conclusion of to test a stock ECU. Having 264 degree'd cams don't necessarily help your idle neither.

even if your tps was untouched they still have a tendecy to go bad, im with BCR thou sounds like a vacuum leak or a fuel pressure problem,

do you have a new fuel pump?

The OP has a modified ECU, where it is sent to get a daugtherboard soldered which allows certains parameters to be re-programmed. I would also shoot ATS an email or phone call, when they reply they are pretty helpful. This isn't the first time I've heard of someone having a faulty Rom Tune, but it is pretty rare.

I would just do what TommyT suggested and look at the links he posted. If you can't borrow one, just buy a used one. They are dirt cheap.

But from what I gathered it seems you had this idle problem before the TD06 upgrade, if that is the case chances are slim of a faulty ECU. I wish I could help but all I have are 93+ parts.

The fuel pump is new, the fuel pressure is fine, the car is running perfectly right before the swap. My technician've checked for vacuum leak and there was none, and he has done the similar many times so I am pretty confident with his work. He also suspected it couble be a faulty ROM tune. I've sent an email to ATS and they asked me to send it back for testing. I am asking help locally because they are far away in TX. It takes more than a couple weeks for shipping back and forth plus testing.

Do you have a boost gauge? If so, what does it read at idle?

The idle is solid with no fluctuation but lots of black smoke coming out from the exhaust. All four plugs are soaking wet. When idling for a long time, the car actually dies because of lots of unburned fuels in the chamber. There is no CELs. It has more black smoke than an 80s diesel car. I am not looking for diagnosis here, I am looking for a factory ECU to elimate one of the most possible factor since ATS racing is far away in TX. Thanks for your suggestions anyways. I am looking to borrow a OEM ECU for a quick test. That's all.
