| BMW dealers + body shop
Which BMW dealer in town generally would have the best rep for collision damage? It's an E90, with heavy suspension damage, ICBC claim.
Park Shore is most convenient for me, but I am open to suggestions. Brian Jessel perhaps? Their body shop is in house, isn't it?

Does anyone know who Park Shore uses?
Only reason why I am leaning towards dealer is the heavy mechanical repairs required, vs body damage.

All reputable collision shops will take the car back to the dealer for any work that they cannot handle.. eg replacing the pyrotechnic battery cable (after aribag deployment etc). Suspension damage is not as hard as old times with better technology etc. These days all suspension parts are replaceable, so replace all damaged parts then an alignment.
I rather have a place like No1 deal with the car for you (with one point person), than a dealer who just farm the car out... Dealers in Canada are not equipped to deal with collisions. I think the only BMW Dealership with in house collision service is in Montreal.

Thanks for the advice. Looking like I'll be sending to either No. 1 or Bismark.
Unfortunately no photos, the car was towed from the scene before photos could be taken.

I got my E92 from Autowest last spring and had a minor door ding in Oct and they sent my car to Rich city. Rich city did a amazing job and turn around time was quick, my car was done within 2 days.

as of right now www.bavara.ca in langley, BC is the only BMW certified Collision Repair Center in the lower mainland.

they still hold a valid passport and have access to GRAV(structural)aluminum parts. AFAIK they are still certified. It's funny how BJ BMW still send collision claims to them if they are not certified.

^ they still do. They send it to AK because of the close vicinity and inter-office politics.
AK is not listed on BMW systems as certified shops with a passport, NO1 however, is.
I have access to this system. You are basing your post on hearsay from BJ.

i can vouch for Bavara as well as Rich City Collision which is where CG Motorsports sends their cars.
Korva is still the best euro shop for collision repairs. If you are not at fault or only paying your deductible, take it there.

List of BMW certified bodyshops: no1 collision (both Vancouver and Richmond stores), Richmond autobody (North Van), Bavara (coincidentally certified by BJBMW). So there isn't just "one" shop that is certified. Posted via RS Mobile | |

BEWARE OF NO.1, my car still have issues to this day due to their inadequate repairs. Bismark or Rich City Collision is my advice.

Negative experiences with No.1 seem to be limited to the Richmond location. Reviews of the Vancouver location are generally positive.

capiche? | We've actually taken a job from AK due in fact that they are not BMW Certified and cannot order the necessary parts to properly repair the car.
We are repairing the inner structure of a new 5 series... The car will then be returned to AK for the final bodywork and paint.

Turns out No.1 was booked 3 weeks out before they could even look at the car. So we opted for Richmond Autobody in North Van. Mechanical work is handled by Park Shore.
Sorry no photos but the initial estimate came in at $5700.

To be clear they do get jobs from BJ, just not the ones that have inner structural damage. There are only a handful of shops that are certified to work on BMW's that have suffered inner structural damage or parts that are made out of aluminum. I've listed a few. I'm just trying to point out Lude S's comment of Bavara being the only bodyshop that is certified, is indeed, false.
Bavara does good work, otherwise they wouldn't be able to get certification, just as the other shops that hold certification. With the new Openroad BMW and Mini dealerships set to materialize in Langley area from 2011 and on, Bavara is in prime position. There is one hurdle: R.A.B is owned by Openroad, and R.A.B North Van is certified, which could mean that Openroad BMW's body repairs will most likely go to R.A.B. North Van.
