do u guys watch entertainment news at all
Conan was threatening to leave NBC unless they gave him the Tonight Show
NBC didn't want another Letterman debacle and caved in and Leno got pushed out
the 2004 deal i thought was just a promise he would "one-day" get the tonight show?
and Leno is still pulling 5million+ viewers how is that wrong? watch any actual news report and you'll read it
Leno isn't failing in terms of his show, he's just failing @ Primetime
Conan on the other hand is failing the Tonight Show his ratings are weak and falling... Less Than Jay when he was at the helm and less than Letterman, even less than Nightline

that's why you deal with the consequences of having made a "deal" in 2004. Clearly back tracking their way out of this deal wasn't the smartest idea anyways. you also got to factor in that conan was only hosting the tonight show for 7 months, which is a relatively short lived career with the tonight show. all in all, after all the shit hits the fan, let's hope fallon is out

Conan on the other hand is failing the Tonight Show his ratings are weak and falling... Less Than Jay when he was at the helm and less than Letterman, even less than Nightline | Conan never threatened to leave, Fox gave him an offer, ABC gave Leno an offer. NBC came to him we know you want the Tonight Show, promised him the show in 2009. He waited 5 years for it. Leno didn't disagree but regretted it in 2008. ABC wanted Leno. NBC panicked, offered him 10pm show.
The thing is why does Leno want it so bad? He does nothing with the darn show. He was thumped for a few years in ratings until Hugh Grant came on his show. Letterman got thumped for the past decade by Leno in ratings yet CBS stood by. NBC needs to be more patient. Leno is really getting stale, and I was a fan of his a decade ago. His show is the exact same show he did 10 years ago. With Conan and even Letterman you sometime just don't know what to expect from them.
The fact that Leno has huge ratings is because old ppl and middle America feel safe with him.

Leno attracts the young people. It's the old people who watch Letterman. The few that can stay up that late.

I put the blame entirely on the execs in NBC that tried to cut production costs for the 10:00pm timeslot by introducing the leno show.

I really wanted to like Kimmel. I loved 'The Man Show' and thought he could carry that to late night but without Corolla hes just not that great imo.
Unneccisary (sp) Censorship is his best bit and that isn't even him doing the routine, its pre-recorded clips with a beep machine.
Take Corolla off of radio, put him on TV with Kimmel, let them do their thing and you have good late night Posted via RS Mobile |

lol at NBC if both Conan and Leno leave Quote:
Jay Leno is not happy with the way things are going down and he thinks NBC has handled the situation terribly. With Conan O'Brien sticking his middle finger up at the network, Leno is not liking what the drama is doing to his image and may follow suit.
Rob Shuter from Pop Eater claims to have the inside scoop that Leno is sick of NBC's antics. "Now that Conan has made it clear he is leaving the troubled network, Jay is considering doing the same. They have put Jay in a terrible position. It looks like he is the reason that Conan is now without a job. Jay is a great guy and it's not fair that due to NBC's stupidity he looks like the bad guy," Shuter says an insider told him.
The source also adds, "Plus, what happens when Jay does return to the 11:35 slot if his audience doesn't immediately follow? How can he possibly trust the same network that canceled Conan after only seven months?"
However, Conan may not be off the hook so easily. A source tells TMZ that Conan's reps never actually asked for a guaranteed time period when they negotiated the $40 million deal meaning that if NBC wants to push the show to as late as 3 a.m., even, the host would have little to no recourse. Conan argues that since The Tonight Show has always been on at the same time, the time slot was "implied."
