NCIX Price Match - Failed (Below Cost ???) lol

this is a very gooood reason for declining Price match.......

Just tried to price match Logitech Dinovo Edge MultiMedia Keyboard.

NCIX Declined Reason: Below Cost.

To those who think its normal.
In Bestbuy, FutureShop, London Drugs, and Visions, Sometimes they price match even blow cost.
So, what are the conditions of Price Match ?? (As I know, they don't match it if other retailers dont have product in stock...etc.)

yes, why would they sell you something that is below their cost?

Bestbuy also has similar policy and I totally think it's fair

what's so funny about that? =| if NCIX price matched EVERYONE that used shopbot or pricecanada. then they would be out of business and we would be forced to buy outdated, over priced computer parts from future shop and bestbuy. there's a reason why bb and fs only match big box stores and not smaller stores (ncix is considered a small store but price match is always at the managers discretion). below cost is a fair enough reason and they offered a bit of a compromise too (which is probably their cost to purchase the item)

You price match as you are placing your order. If they accept then they complete the order. You can't see if they price match then decide whether or not to buy it.

Normal.
I PM'd a Logitech USB Desktop Mic that was selling for $50 at NCIX.
Newegg had it for $24.99.
I got declined and was offered $32 even though NCIX had it at a much lower price a year ago.

They're more likely not to decline if you bought a whole system, that's my assumption.

most places need the item to be at a local store. staples needs the place to be a "big box" store, so that's kinda typical for most places. but honestly, it's at the managers discretion. if they like you, they'll do it. if they don't then they won't and will find a reason not to do it (stores such as ncix isn't technically considered a big box store). and costco considers themself a wholeseller and won't pm from what i'm aware of (someone correct me if i'm wrong)

Costco doesn't do PM or anything. They only price adjust if they are the ones that lower the cost of an item within the return/exchange date (90 for electronics).

Big box stores can match below cost because they are a large corporate run business, one item sold below cost is nearly negligble for them due to this fact. However, in return, they'd have a satisfied customer that will probably do return business, plus spread the word about doing business with said big box store.

BB won't price match if it's below cost... 200% sure (both US and Canada).

I am pretty sure they do, some staffs might try to make up some excuse, but if you look at their pm policy, it never mentions anything about not PMing due to costs...etc
I also price matched a G25 wheels at bestbuy few months ago and got it for $160, (BB was selling it for over $300), the staffs said it was way below costs and I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

back to the topic:
NCIX is probably bigger than most mom&pop computer stores, but it is still a small private company. They are not going to do anything that is unprofitable.
Moreover, their price match policy is totally to their advantage. They have the right to deny any price match (stated in their policy), and I believe you can only pm BEFORE you place the order, not after you place the order, so it is simply a way for them to make more sales from cust. who would otherwise buy from elsewhere.

Big box stores on the other hand have almost unconditional price match policy as a marketing methods...a way of telling ppl "we have great prices", (most of us will probably disagree...) so they can attract more customers who find it convenient to shop there.

In reality, no companies, big or small put up price match policy for the customers' benefit.

Below cost is a legit reason for a computer store
if you keep bringing up "well why then how come BB/FS still PM below cost" then why not take your PM there intead? Oh that's right, they don't PM no-name small-ass online computer sites.

From my experiences, on Staples, FS/BB and Toys R Us gives a definate policy (fine prints) for pricematching. Every other store is ymmv.

that depends if the item has free-shipping or not

When you submit an order that has a PM request, they'll get back to you if the PM was denied, and give a counter offer. You can choose to take their offer, or just decline the order.
