Do those 12V air ionizers (ozone generators) actually work?

i've seen places selling little 12V cigarette lighter type air ionizers (ozone generators).

does anyone know if they actually generate enough ozone to be effective in a vehicle?

i was referring specifically to the tiny little cigarette lighter ones. since they're so small, i was wondering if they produce enough ozone to be effective.

In my experience, they don't do much at all. I've left one in a car for hours and didn't notice any difference.
