	   | Translink monthly passes 'question' re: 1,2,3 zones

OK.. best way to ask this is to give you an example.
Let's say you're hopping onto the Skytrain at Scott Rd Station with the intent to go to Burrard St Station. Time of day: VERY EARLY as in 6am'ish.

What's stopping you from saving a bit of cash and buying a 2zone pass
 rather than 3zone?

I.E. if a dumbass translink rep asks to see your pass, can they point out that you're not covered for the appropriate zone? BUT.. from scott rd to metrotown is 2zones so can you not say.. "yah i'm getting off at metrotown"..OR in the case where they ask you at zone 1 boundary, "yah i got on at metrotown enroute to burrard st stn"...

OR is it where you will not be permitted to board unless you have a 3zone pass at scott rd station?

Just buy a one zone bus and if u get caught pretend you have no idea and claim this is ur first time tanking the skytain. To be honest I only use the 1zone pass and I travel 2 zones. Been doing it for 2+ years and never once got caught or even ask to show my faire. I wouldn't have purchase it but I need to take a bus too so I must lol.
One of my Co-workers doens't even pay for it. When he hops on the bus he just say he have no money and contiune to take a seat int eh bus. 95% of the time the bus drivers don't care at all.

because a 2 zone pass you mark which zones you're from ie 2 and 3. so if you're in zone 1 then you're screwed
same goes for 1 zone. if you're in zone 2 and end up in zone 1, you're screwed. that's why they have those 3 little circles on the cards that say 1 2 3

i believe that's how it works, i've never had a bus pass.

it's NOT worth the ticket nor the hassle... i was just curious as I
get ready to start skytraining it through Feb. I'll stick to the 3zoner.
HERE's another question...what's better value?
Feb Monthly Pass 3zone $136 Feb 1 - Feb 28
unlimited use.
Olympics 6wk Pass 3zone $204 Feb 8 - Mar 21
unlimited use.
How 'big' are the paralympics which start right after
the Olympics. Would it be safe to assume that
effective March 1st, traffic & general commuting
would drop back to normal levels? The thing is,
all the road closures start Feb 2 so it's better to
get skytraining as quick as possible and not
wait it out till Feb 8 which is when the Olympics
pass starts.

I will be happy to pay full price considering if the skytrain doesn't break down every other day and each time is down by 20+ mins and have more trains during rush hour. Also, they been raising their price every year saying it is to provide better service. however all I see is huge bonus to the the higher ups and service stays the same.
Just wait till the winter games comes when everyone have to wait at the stations for 50+ mins coz a train broke down.

Because you have to SCRATCH OFF which zone(s) you intend on using the pass for. You have to choose either 1 & 2 or 2 & 3. There is no ambiguity here. (I guess you could scratch off 1 & 3 as well.) | How much is a monthly pass per week? $136 / 4 = $34
How much is the Olympics pass per week? $204 / 6 = $34
Got your answer, or does it need to be spelled out for you in more detail?

Also those of you who don't pay, this already is a non-profit service, which loses millions a year due to freeloaders. Despite the poor choice of spending higher up, you can see why they have to raise fares.
Do the math, a bus will only bring in maybe 200 cash on a busy route a day. (granted these days most people use passes or fare savers) but users are still paying maybe only 1/3 the cost of the system.
