if your tv and laptop have a dvi or vga output why not just use a simple dvi/vga cable?

edit: or hdmi cable if both are compatible. as for the dvi/vga way, you will need a stereo jack with both male connectors on each end, 3.5mm ones, for you to have sound.

It depends on what outputs your laptop has. If you want to use S-Video (useful in most hotels) then your laptop will need to support it, or you will have to add a video card.

My laptop has it, but requires a crazy Japanese cable that cost me like $50

most likely your laptop will have some kind of video out(dvi, vga, etc). Then all you need is a video cable + 3.5mm audio cable.

Man 1080p youtube sure looks good. hahaha:

you see the single jack in your picture? you are looking for a cable with that 3.5" male jack on both sides. you plug this into your laptop where you would plug in headphones and into your tv there should be a spot near the vga input for the other end of the 3.5" jack cable.

They have that (non-retractable) at London Drugs, and it is $9.99.

$ store if you don't need it to be retractable.

^^^ Not really.. You have to watch TV from your computer desk? Or if you sit on the couch, the desk will be in the way. It sucks that so many modern homes don't have a properly formatted room for enjoying media.. Most places stick the TV above the fucken fireplace!

Yes I noticed the desk. That's why I think it's silly to have a TV in there

Nothing wrong with it, I just don't think it's a "sick setup" as someone put it. It's a laptop and a TV! OMG!
