Is your wallet durable?

My sister's boyfriend has to replace his wallet every year or so. When I last saw it, it was held together by well-intentioned, positive thoughts. His wallets are moderately priced, leather wallets which should mean that quality is half-decent. No idea on the brand. It's carried in the back pocket.

I showed him my wallet, a Harley Davidson chain wallet, which I've been using for more than 15 years. Only recently, has a bit of stitching come undone. He's interested, but he's unsure of the style, as he's not a chain kinda guy. Durability is the primary feature for his next wallet, and something under $100. How about some suggestions or reviews? How long has your wallet lasted you?

My wallet has lasted me a long, long time. It's held together by duct tape. Actually black construction tape - the best money can buy.

It may look rough on the outside, but the black Visa card inside more than makes up for it.

Yes, it's also taped up in black duct tape (except for the magnetic stripe, numbers, and signature). Replacement card is in the mail.

Did I tell you guys black is my favourite colour? My Ridgeline is black. My Honda Fit is black. Wish my dick was black........ LOL.

mines genuine leather. its lasted me a couple of years. it all depends on how many times you take it out and your work environment too

duct tape wallets work pretty well from what i see

110 pounds, bought it in 2006 in england... still fine now.

I think, the problem is, people just don't take proper care of their shit. or are just too careless.

my other 3 wallets are:
-some CADPAT digital camo wallet that's tough as hell, i'd have to try to break it, to break it.
-some fendi wallet
-some kiddy wallet i got as my first wallet.

you know what, they're all 100% fine, how does one wear out their wallet?!

I think I change my wallet after at least five years...

Gt-R R34 01-17-2010 03:01 AM

I have a limited edition LV wallet. Had it for 5 years now and going - still looks brand new.
Wallets are 1 item that i am really willing to splurge on. They always last forever.

I have 2 LV and 1 BV wallet. They all look brand new, and 1 of them i had for 8 years now.

Just personal view - wallets are my item i have to have a luxury brand. My clothing can be no-name but my wallet has to be something nice.

I use that Coach card case. It has 4 slots for my ID/cards and the middle slot for cash. Nice and slim and carries everything I need it to without the bulk of a regular wallet. Got it a few months back and it still looks brand new.

I've used this beige BAPE wallet for a a year and it has held up nicely (except the edges got dyed a little to the colour of my jeans...). The leather is really smooth and the colour is pretty unique.

Now I'm using this one but in "Basalte" (black). It has a coin section with a zipper for some loose change and it also has a clear section to put my U-Pass and sticker photos with the g/f in :D. The shape is also quite unique, since the vertical side is taller than the width when closed.

IMO, a wallet is something we carry around and we use everyday, so it has to be somewhat presentable, practical, and has to be of decent quality to withstand wear and tear. It is not something that I will cheap out on.

just picked this up. i hate bulk in my pockets so i keeps it real minimal with the coin/card wallet.

I have used my Roots wallet for at least 6 years now. It is surprisingly durable. I bought it one for my dad and one for myself. my dad keeps his in his jeans back pocket. I keep mine usually in my jacket pocket, the leather is still holding up very well. the good thing is its cheap, under $20.

Sigged :lol

hk20000 01-17-2010 01:33 PM

the alternative is buy 50 $2 wallets from daiso.

Leatherette lasts you through a decade at least so that's 500 years worth of wallet.

!LittleDragon 01-17-2010 01:48 PM

Used a Prada wallet for about 10 years. I only switched because I got tired of sitting on it. Currently using a card holder and a money clip.

nice...where and how much?

AzNightmare 01-17-2010 02:38 PM

I went through a bunch of cheaper $10-15 wallets
that had the words "Genuine Leather" printed in them.

They usually last about a year before they start falling apart or so.
The creases will crack and natural wear and tear.

I bought a $50 Calvin Klein wallet last summer, it's still good. No cracking whatsoever,
if it wasn't dirty, it would look brand new almost. I'm pretty sure this is gonna last long.

hotong 01-17-2010 02:43 PM

Use a money clip
