Milan Fashion Week Fall 2010 collections what are your thoughts on the Fall 2010 collections of the different designers? surprises? favorites? I've just started looking at some of the stuff. Alexander McQueen's stuff is "unique" lol. I'm really liking the Burberry Prorsum pieces though |
I love the shearling lined leather boots from Burberry Prorsum but overall it's a nice collection. Prada collection is looking good as well. I have mix feelings about Dolce & Gabbana, some pieces are nice but others are a little to old school Italian or too much of a "godfather" feel. |
Anyone have a link to check the collections out? |
here's a link from GQ: http://www.gq.com/fashion-shows |

Gucci collection isn't bad either. I'm interested to see what KVA did for the Dior Homme Fall 2010 collection as well as for his own line. I really like the "biker" style pants the Versace collection has with the zippers, reminds me of the Balmain jeans. I want to get a pair . Does any place in Vancouver sell Balmain for men's? |
Yah, the runway pieces for D&G are a bit too over the top for me but I do like a few items like the blazers. I think the stuff most stores will pick up will be decent and wearable. I've been eyeing the Balmain boots actually but I can't push myself to spend $1200 on a pair of boots. |
Bottega Veneta looks excellent, as always. Understated luxury in its presentation, nothing is loud but of obvious high quality, unconventional designs to stay fresh, good color coordination in the outfits... not gimmicky like many of the new designers that come and go every couple of years. Just fantastic. Same goes for Jil "not really Jil Sander" Sander. Raf Simons has really made his mark in a positive way. Dolce & Gabbana also looks good. The lapels on the jackets really bug me with that reflecting lining... kind of garish. Otherwise solid and presentable. D&G has an interesting theme going on, they'd be a great experimental diffusion line like Y-3 or something if they didn't make so many hideous logo t-shirts that LA folk eat up. I like Ferragamo's direction, cool coats & boots sort of remind me of Victorian horse racing. Not sure on some of the outfits or execution... AMQ doesn't even look wearable outside of a costume party. Burberry & Prada = yawn. When was the last time anything by Versace was attractive? Terrible, and diffusion lines doing it no favors. |
yeah too bad they don't sell men BV bags in vancouver.. their bags are sick |
Versace died when Gianni died. I still remember rocking pre death Gianni Versace stuff in HS, his stuff was amazing. |
^ damn you're quite a bit older than I am then if you rocked that stuff when he was alive lol. nonetheless, I still like the Versace biker-like zipper pants. I'd still prefer the Balmain ones though. where's Dior Homme going to be shown in Paris? anyone see Kanye at the LV fashion show in Paris decked out in fur and timbs? http://kanyewest.us/gallery/albums/c...20France/2.jpg Chris Brown's been around in Milan too. for the most part he's been trying too hard and looking like a fool, but I actually like this fit: http://chris-brown.us/gallery/albums...7-01-10/16.jpg |
Lol, yes I am old...29 and LOL @ Kanye. I mean seriously wtf is up with the fur coat. |
don't know if anyone is up right now...but the Dior Homme Fall/Winter 2010-2011 fashion show is streaming live now if anyone wants to watch it: http://www.diorhomme.com |
if anyone missed it and wants to watch it here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wqfgvd7Tok |
Neil Barrett, Dior Homme, and Junya Watanabe were definitely one of my favorites. No to Alexander Mcqueen, i think when a designer does a runway show, they should at least make a few of their pieces wearable other than on the runway. Rick Owens was nice as well. damn, if i had money, i would buy these shoes in an instant! http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2010/...ka-boots-1.jpg Jil Sander was different, and Moncler Gamme Bleu is probably one of the best collaborations of all time haha. i love this Moncler Gamme Bleu jacket on the left http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2010/...er-jackets.jpg |
that dh boot is sick, where can i buy online? |
^ yea the DH boots are nice. they're on the Barney's website only in the Ivory color though. here's the link:http://www.barneys.com/Chukka%20Boot...efault,pd.html it's only $815USD too, hypebeast said they were like $1000+USD |
"only 815 USD" damn, you nigguhs must be making bank or something haha, Im still young so i dont have the money to blow a grand for pair of boots...yet. hahaha, ill just get a pair of phillip lim desert boots with the zippers on the side instead :p |
@rickross: i think brown looks better, i will try to look for it when i have time @filth: yeah dior homme is very expensive, the shoes already cost the least |

My buddy has the grey Phillip Lim chukka boots and I have to say they're nice. Don't worry it's only Vancouver haha I'm sure a lot of people can't tell whether you're wearing a Dior Homme chukka boot or a Phillip Lim desert boot, chances are they won't even know what either brand is :haha:. Plus it isn't so much about the brand and price, but just how you put the stuff together. If you can afford that stuff great if not then it doesn't matter. Look at some of the famous celebs with money with all this designer stuff, they sometimes make themselves look like fools! Beckham is great though  |
Louis Vuitton has boots with the zippers in the back too http://jakandjil.com/blog/wp-content...010/01/lv7.jpg http://jakandjil.com/blog/wp-content...010/01/lv5.jpg |
