Poor dude.
I think it's kind of a double sided blade. In a sense, if today you don't give enough power to the police and always having them questioning their actions, it would sometimes delay the prevention of something. And police would be blamed as well.
But then, this kind of beat the dude up first and then ask question kinda action is definitely wrong.

It would seems to take incidents like what has happened to bring notice to the bad apples (if they are indeed bad apples and nothing else has been left out of the story). Unfortunately, Professional Standards detectives are not mind-readers and can't tell who are the bad apples just by looking at them to prevent something from happening in the first place.

Is it so wrong to expect people not to beat their wives and speak the language of the country in which they live?

I don't get the point of suspended with pay. You do illegal stuff, if no one finds out, just do it again because it's either enjoyable or for profit etc... if someone finds out, then you'll get money when you don't have to go to work...profit! You'll want to do it again and others will want to mimic your action as you're gonna get the money no matter if you work or not...

You have to have at least one year of university, bare minimum, to join the VPD.
And why should the VPD have to all speak Chinese? This is Canada.

| Minor injuries and transported to hospital for precautionary measure!
“The man was arrested and received minor injuries to his face in the process. Police called for medical assistance and the man was transported to Vancouver General Hospital as a precautionary measure,” she stated.
In a sudden reversal Friday, Chief Chu withdrew those statements. “I want to make it perfectly clear this morning that we do not stand by that statement. This was information that was premature and released as fact when in reality only the current investigation into the matter can determine the details of what happened,” he told reporters this morning."
Officers involved:
(1) not intelligent obviously, looking at the wrong address, giving the real possible wife beater a chance to escape.
(2) unchecked violence, beating up the public with no justification.
(3) lied after the incident, making the Police force look bad.
The public should make sure those two clowns are removed without pay. There should be a civil law suit again them personally.

"With the apology, Chief Jim Chu is backing away from a potentially damaging statement made Thursday when the VPD had said Wu was injured while resisting arrest." http://www.news1130.com/news/local/a...s-compensation
so.... they're trying to say his injury can came from elsewhere?
He's beaten to pulp, taken to hospital in an ambulance while the cops are here, where else can the injury came from?

LOL at all the "Fuck the VPD/Police"-type comments. If anybody is to blame, it's the 2 officers who caused the incident in the first place. Condemning an entire force for the actions of 2 officers is ridiculous. Somebody's probably going to dispute this, but I'm going to say it anyway: condemning the whole force (VPD in this case), or an entire entity (the police), is like condemning a whole race for the actions of a few.
Do you think the other cops in the VPD are giving high-fives and patting the backs of the 2 responding officers for a job well done? Of course not. If anything, anybody who values their job security would know to stay far away from those guys.
I hope the 2 officers are made an example of. Period.
And no, I'm not a pro-cop 24/7/365 100% kind of guy. I'm disappointed to find out as well that the victim didn't actually resist as it was first reported by the VPD. Whose fault that is that, I guess we'll soon find out.

You have a good point, but imho we DO need to condemn the entity for sticking up to these rotten apples.
The thing that really bothers me about cops is there's no accountability.
When they mess up, they always try to cover it and the cops never get punished. They get suspension with pay or a desk job doing paper work. It's quite reasonable to see why the general public (of whom many are unemployed right now) get pissed off when they see authorities messing up and still getting paid when other professions would get canned in a heartbeat.
If I mess up bigtime at my job, I get fired.
I don't think this is fair to the MAJORITY of cops who do their jobs correctly to have their co-workers fuckup and ruin the reputation of the entire force.
It really pisses me off as to why they don't just fire the rotten apples.

It also includes a section on memory and short essay responses. A minimum mark of 65% is required to pass. Applicants will have 2 hours to complete the exam." the so called 1 year of university or rather POST High school education is just based on law enforcement, hardly a tough course if you ask me. Lolololol 65% to pass; i mean the universities have an LPI exam (language proficiency index exam) with a 80% or higher to pass in order to get into University, 65% what a joke.
BTW saying chinese was just an example. There are going to zillions of people in Vancouver in Feb that don't speak english. Using chinese people was an exageration, you failing to realize that is just failure. Quote:

He's beaten to pulp, taken to hospital in an ambulance while the cops are here, where else can the injury came from? | Exactly what i said before. These police officers need to be fired and have their pensions and what ever employment insurance and other benefits cut. The rest of the police squad needs to be heavily disciplined as well, too many fucktard officers. Quote:

The police tried to cover what actually happened, but when they realized they couldn't, they quickly tried to be apologetic. Sometimes i wonder if Canada is actually shadier than China, and this is coming from a chinese guy. So sketch, twice now its happened. The tasering and this. Both times the VPD claims that the victim "resisted arrest"
Excuse any grammar mistakes, it is almost 3am

^ It wouldn't be her fault for not clarifying. She was probably too shocked to be descriptive at the time.
It's still the VPD's fault for jumping to conclusions.

i bet u, the cops were thinking "lets beat the shit out of that guy cause hes a women beater and child abuser" before even arriving at the door, and guess what happened, right when he opened the door they dragged the (wrong)guy out and beat the shit out of him thinking they're doing all the women a favor by beating up the "women beater"

What?
Anyway, I wasn't there. Neither was anyone else. Yeah, I think its embarrassing to the VPD that they had the immediate knee jerk reaction to say "Nuh uh, we didn't do nuthin' wrong" before they had done a proper investigation.
Screaming and crying that the VPD is "evil" and "all cops deserve an asskicking" is as retarded as what the cops did in the first place.
