Best place to buy a LCD TV?

Hi,

I need to buy 55" LCD TV soon, and was wondering where would be the best place to go?

Future Shop and Best Buy are the only place that come to mind, but I'm sure there's better places out there that will give a better price.

Anyone work somewhere that sells TV's? Anyone work at Best Buy? I'd rather have someone on here get my sale than a total stranger.

Thanks in advance

Ah...I forgot about Visions! Thanks. But I'm away now, and will only be home for a few days next month. I'll check them out

I think costco was selling a Visio 55" LED tv for like $2g's

Best deal out there on a led tv but namebrand who knows.

Visions is great if you can get a really good deal on something.

Costco has 90 day return policy and 3 year warranty without paying the ~$500 at Futureshit.

I agree. If you are planning to buy a bunch of stuff (TV, speakers, stand, cable box) then you're more likely to get a good deal at Visions. If you just want a TV it's unlikely they will give you a better than advertised price as the margins are so low anyway. In that case you're best bet is Costco IMO.

Wow, thanks for all the help~

Costco is always a good deal and good return policy, but I'm looking to go name brand like LG or Samsung as it's a gift for my mom.

The last tv we got was a plasma, so going LCD this time. LED is nice, but too expensive at the moment.

I think a trip to visions is the way to go

Now I just need to find someone with a relative/friend working there!

Actually the chances of getting a price better then the advertised price for just the TV is pretty much a for sure thing unless the price posted is already at a clearence price. The last 2 times I bought a TV both recently I got below their advertised price within 5 mins of walking into the store. I inquired about other TV's and the price they offered were also lower then advertised.

I'd say go to Costco.

I hate going to Visions. Went to the one on Imperial years ago to get a dvd player as a gift for a friend. There were 6 sales people surrounding me in one of the aisles trying to get me to buy things. Had to tell them to back off.

So your going to get a TV with lower picture quality because you hand one with better picture quality last time?

If you wand LCD look at Visio TV's at costco. They are the number one selling LCD company in the US.

Costco has generally the same selection of TVs as Visions...

I guess I just had bad luck the two times I went. I easily got them to match prices from other stores but couldn't do better than that.

Yea never know. I can only say based off of my experiences. If it helps anybody, everytime I went was to the Marine Drive location.

There's one on Marine Drive in North Vancouver and one on Southeast Marine Drive. I'm sure you meant southeast marine drive but I just thought I would point it out. Stupid city can't be creative with street names.

I don't know a lot about TV's, but I've read Plasma is the way to go for movies and sports. But without me at home, my family uses the TV for mostly television programs, thus LCD being more energy efficient seems like a better fit for them. I dunno...this is just my logic...maybe I'm wrong

LCD's use the same amount of power no matter what. Plasmas power consumption varies depending on the content. Content with dark scenes will use less power than scenes with lots of bright content. Plasmas also handle standard def content much better. Standard def content on LCD's does not look as good and I bet you parents watch mostly standard def content.
