Weird Siren going on right now....
 

I live around the east van and there's this loud siren going on. It sounded like the Air Raid sirens of WWII. It could be some sort of test for the Olympics?(unlikely at this hour). All I know is that it's freak'in LOUD! I'm probably being a retard. :lol

it makes sense that it's being done late at night, more people are asleep, so less people to freak out

if they did it in the afternoon or something, no doubt people would be shitting bricks

Hahahah yeah, I can imagine it being very out of place happening in the daytime. Now who knows if its a real emergency? I can get pretty nosey about this.

a lot of places sound their air raid sirens once every few months as tests, this is probably just gonna be happening for the olympics

theres always a slim chance that it might be a real emergency though, but air raid sirens are only used to alert everybody of something big (like what i mentioned above, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, etc. or military attacks of course)

also, if it was an emergency, the siren would've been ongoing. it's stopped now, so im almost certain it was just a test for the olympics

That siren creeps me out. It makes me shudder and get goosebumps everytime I hear it cuz only bad things happen when it sounds. :(

When I hear this siren sound, I immediately think of closing the blinds and turning off all the lights, then climbing into an underground bomb shelter.

Back in my home town it used to sound on a somewhat regular basis to alert firefighters that they needed to suit up and attend a fire. (small town, no professional firefighters only volunteer ones)

For Eastern European immigrants it was fucking terrifying to hear weekly.

Heard it last night too and just made me think of like World War right away. Thought I had to go hide in my bunker for a bit or something.

I know that Carleton school has those air horns on top of the roof and I remember it going off once when I was a kid.

i remeber this when i was still in elementary school in Taiwan, regularly drill to duck into the bomb shelter...

Whole city participated in the drill and there are fighter jets on the air. i'm pretty curious where are these speakers installed, because they were all in sync when the air horn sounded
