Horikazu & Horiyoshi Souryo (Hiroyoshi's the 3rd son)

if your a big tattoo fan like me you should know who the legendary hiroyoshi is.

well his son Horiyoshi Souryo and Horikazu are coming to EAST VAN INK for 200 hours of tattooing!

420$ an hour but i think its definately well worth it..(saves you the trouble from going to japan etc.)

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/ev...0010286&ref=mf

im debating to see if i should get sleeve outline from him if theres some hours still available.. anyone on RS here plan on going?

BinsentoW 01-27-2010 07:02 PM

If I didnt know any better, I would've thought you set the hourly price for them

ajax 01-27-2010 07:10 PM

$420 an hour? It's a sign, you must go for it!

think of it this way horiyoshi is not going to tattoo I <3 mom tattoo and many stupid fridge magnet design that ppl will want to get done.

he only want his name on the very best and to do that he has to be in complete artistic control, i'm sure many artist will agree. if horiyoshi family yields to all requests they would not be the legend they are. To get a tattoo from horiyoshi in japan you have to go thru a process not unlike apprenticeship, that tattooer essentially becomes your "sensei" and in japanese culture the master always know whats best for pupil. Given that this a 1 month gig for horiyoshi its impossible to go thru the same process so maybe he will make exception here, maybe let you pick the general idea but i'm pretty sure the would layout and all the detail and what it ultimately look like will be entirely up to horiyoshi. On the other hand, no matter what he tattoo its going to be kickass anyways if i'm going for a session i would just let him decide what would look and suit me the best.

Yakuza members that wants to get full body suit has to get their bosses's approval first and he doesn't get to choose the artist or the design, how is that for communism.

^^^^ damn the strip in the middle looks sooo odd

SkinnyPupp 01-27-2010 11:39 PM

Although I love the imagery and style, I would never get a traditional Japanese tattoo. Last time I was in Van everyone fucking had them. They are going to be like 2000's verison of tribal it seems :lol

yes but how many of them wear the signature of horiyoshi? because they are done with hand tools its going to be more vibrant and painting like than anything a tattoo gun can achieve its very obvious in person. btw i though u had a japanese style tattoo? i remember browsing the tattoo thread and seeing your tat or did i confuse that with some1 else.

the stripe down the middle is so their tat will still be hidden when wearing a kimono

SkinnyPupp 01-27-2010 11:51 PM

I have a Japanese tattoo, but it's not done in the traditional style.

I agree that getting one by horiyoshi would be very special, but I was more referring to the traditional style (emulated or strict) overall.

Not hating on it, I love the style. It's just so common. And not that there's anything wrong with that either. Just not for me :)

AzNightmare 01-27-2010 11:56 PM

Lol... in other words, this guy's a genius in making people throw money at him.
Sorry, don't care though. I rather not look like a Yakuza wannabe and be poor after doing so.

AutozamAZ-3 01-28-2010 04:01 AM

will this be deburi or with a gun? i was actually looking to getting my first tattoo and hoping to get japanese art

OH FUCK THATS EXPENSIVE

SkinnyPupp 01-28-2010 08:38 AM

It's not that expensive. Most WORLD FAMOUS artists will charge $300 per hour or more. Some would be literally priceless.

There are a few artists out there that are worth anything to get a tattoo from to last the rest of your life. I am still very disappointed that last year I was very close to getting one from Bob Tyrrell since he was in China for a show. By the time I got in touch with him, he said he didn't have time for me :(
