| Hub: The Computer Paper?
Hub: The Computer Paper. What happened to that publication? I used to reference that paper when in the market for computer parts. Now I am in the market for a desktop and was hoping to go through the ads but could no longer find that paper or their website. I prefer to deal with the smaller independant shops than the "larger" local chain stores (NCIX) and big-box stores (BestB/FuturesSh).
Any good computer stores other than NCIX, Anitec, A-power?

atic computers I use occasionally. www.atic.ca
I've found though that ncix is usually the way to go. If you don't mind paying some shipping and waiting, try both newegg ( www.newegg.ca) and tiger direct ( www.tigerdirect.ca)
They are both online retailers, though newegg sometimes has free shipping deals.

Hey...you're right. I haven't seen that paper for ages. It probably fell victim to reduced ad revenue.

Apparently a few of the last issues were in Q1 of 09. The website is parked, no real updates on their facebook page either.

I remember when there were two publications in Vancouver, and the papers were quite big, about 11x14 is size. Then one disappeared, and The Hub got quite small, about letter size, and quite thin.

Useless now that NCIX has expanded so much. Used to use that paper to find the best deals back in the day but now I can pretty much walk into NCIX and be assured that their price is low enough and that they have it in stock. All those other places are mostly unreliable and some are pretty shady.

I found an old copy in my old room at my parent's house, and a 9GB SSD was going for $18,000!

shopbot.ca, plus pricematch at NCIX, equals no need for The Computer Paper.

I just go A-Power. Always good service. Last two times I've been to NCIX (once Langley, one Kingsway), the service was utter shyte.
Seriously, the prices on most stuff is so low-margin, there's not really a big difference from one store to the next, except when certain stuff is on sale. It's not worth the time to do a bunch of comparison shopping to save $1 on a stick of RAM or something, especially not if it means having to hit different stores for different components.

i find anitec the easiest to deal with in terms of fast transaction...if you're just buying one item at NCIX the line up is just a pain in the ass...well at least at the burnaby one
i think the 15% restocking fee for returns is pretty BS though...but whatever i support whatevers local

Any good computer stores other than NCIX, Anitec, A-power? | Because paper-based advertisement is very out-dated and on the way out?
