Modified M30 engine from a stock 535i with twin T25 Garrett turbochargers, mahle pistons, modified cams, intake, exhaust.
Details from another local Alpina owner: Quote: | The B10 3.5 is pretty much a 'Super-535i'. It is easily outmatched by the e34 M5 and 540i, but is much rarer than either and powered by an Alpina-tuned M30 motor putting out (on paper) 254hp instead of 208 in the 535i.So the trade off is rarity and drivability/cost of ownership VS. power. Everytime I think of selling, I like to remind myself it does almost anything that a modern VW GTI, or e90 328i can do, plus being much rarer, for a tiny fraction of the price... |

I know that car! It belongs to Victor, fellow member of the Alpina Forum. He has the only white one in Canada. From our calculations from the registery, there's probably about 10 -12 in North America right now. I personally know 2 owners owners,; 1 from Calgary and 1 in Edmonton.
These cars are definitely sleepers! 0-60 in 5.1sec, top speed of around 182mph, 1/4mile in 14sec; pretty respectable for a 20 year old car, especially considering it's a 4-door sedan.
The Biturbo is a very rewarding car to drive. It's also a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde type of car; very docile and comfortable around town (as a 4-door sedan should be), but open the boost all the way and tramp on the gas and it turns into a demon!
I would like to make a correction to one of the above posts: Quote: | The B10 3.5 is pretty much a 'Super-535i'. It is easily outmatched by the e34 M5 and 540i, but is much rarer than either and powered by an Alpina-tuned M30 motor putting out (on paper) 254hp instead of 208 in the 535i.So the trade off is rarity and drivability/cost of ownership VS. power. The BiTurbo actually produces 360bhp. 254Bhp is found in the normally aspirated Alpina B10 3.5, which I own (#349 out of 572.) Mine is more subdued at 0-60 in 7.4sec and a top speed of 155mph, although still not bad for a 20 year old 4-door sedan.
Here's a pic of mine.
Cheers,
Peter
