left side moving cw, right is moving ccw, middle one is the confusing one

middle one changes direction ever so often, sneaky

left and center rotate the same direction until i glimpse the right one, then they all start turning in the opposite direction of the left and center's former direction.

its related to being left/right brain dominant.

A friend was able to make the picture spin which ever way he wanted to after looking at it for awhile.

left = moving to the left

The red and blue lines give you a feeling of depth. For example, from the side view, if part of the red leg line disappears "behind" the blue (other) leg, it gives you information that for that frame, the L leg is "behind" the R leg or whatever. Your brain uses that to process the direction for the L and R pics. That's why the middle picture alone can flip either way, since the information is now missing.
