For what it's worth, the loops are very very sturdy- nothing but praise holding my gripped 50D. To be fair, I've never had a huge lens on it, heaviest lens was around 500g. But there doesn't seem to be any stress or loosening.

I didn't like the 3/8th connection type on the original Canon strap- drove me NUTS. I very much prefer the loops at the end. Plus I like the thicker 1/2in strap as it seems more robust.

Finally got my D700 back a couple of days ago... and got this new toy.

This is Crumpler Industry Disgrace in grey camouflage.

For the sake of comparison, I have the OPTech classic before this, and the shape of the new Crumpler is more ergonomic IMO and puts less stress on my neck when I carry my D700 with the grip on.

That strap was a limited release last May/June there was also a brown camo in the same style. They were both available at the crumpler store downtown at $34.95 while the normal Crumpler straps are $29.95

its an awesome strap. I was holding my friend's D90 with a sigma 10-20 around my neck 'lunchbox' and it fully reminded me how painful it is to carry around the neck with the stock nikon strap compared to carrying around my own D90 with a heavy metal Tokina AI-AF 28-70 2.8 which weighs about 25% more than the D90 by itself. you really can't go wrong with the crumpler.

Haha... I checked on Crumpler site and it showed for 40 as well but I needed to add shipping. So I figure for 40 shipped it was alright.

But still... it's pretty good... love it so far. Better than the classic OPTech that I had for many year.

I wish cameras were made with larger/wider strap attachment points to accomodate rifle slings. There are rifle slings out there for almost every sort of purpose and carrying method. I'd love to see a camera strap that could rapidly change from single point to two point connection on the camera. For example, the Magpul sling in the youtube link below allows for this (skip to 3:16 in the video):

I've also thought about ditching the strap idea all together and going with a small camera bag designed for rapid access of my camera, such as the Hazard4 Forward Observer. Shown below, it can be mounted on your chest at an angle using a three point strap system (third point in photo below is blocked by his left hand) to make it easy to deploy your camera and then store it again. It also has a MOLLE attachment system so you can attach any pouches or add ons you want.
