Which one do you guys consider most reliable?

My parents decided that they would be interested in spliting a new car with me so I went from having to think about which used car I liked now to which new car I like my choices between the cars are a 2010 Honda civic cx-l or the Lx or the 2010 Mazda 3 basically I'm just getting a sense of what u guys think since I'm assueming most of you guys have more car knowledge than myself.

Thanks

Honda's have always been known for rock solid reliability.

Although bang for the dollar the Mazda 3 seems to offer a little bit more features and I like the way it drives better.

Can you live with a car that's happy 24/7? If not, get the Honda.

Both are brand new cars from reputable manufacturers. I dont feel reliability of either is an issue unless you plan on keeping the car for 10 plus years.
Instead the logical thing to be looking at true cost of ownership, not just the monthly payments and down payment but depreciation and basic maintenance, also projcted resale.
In a few years your going to be selling this car for a down payment on a new car and the more you get then the less you pay later and the less you lost the less you spent.

I've been a life time Honda guy, but once in my life I took a gamble and bought a Mazda. How did it turn out? Not so good. I may have gotten mysself a lemon, so I don't put anything into the one vehicle from Mazda that I bought. The one difference I did notice that isn't biased, from my standpoint, is the service you get. Honda, bar none is the better of the two. Getting parts is another thing. With Mazda, there is a wait if the part is not stocked by the dealership. Honda's parts distribution seems to be much better. I cannot remember ever having to wait more than one day for parts. Usually, it is same day delivery.

Back to service. Honda has a great network. You get work done at one dealership, your vehicle's records show up at all other dealerships. Comes in handy at times. Mazda does this, but only with recalls. Plus, to this day, I have not had any bad dealings with service at any Honda dealership - servicing or warranty work. In fact, warranty work has been very good to excellent with Honda. Mazda, not so much. Getting warranty work has been difficult at times.

BTW, I think I've been to every Honda dealership in the Lower Mainland from Abbotsford to Tsawassen over the 35+ years of driving, so my experience with Honda is no BS. Maybe my great experiences have been due to my wonderful charm, LOL. I must say, the best experience I've had with all the Honda dealerships have been with Surrey Honda. Sales department is iffy, but service and parts people are the best.

As for Mazda, I've only been to five dealerships. VIP, Freeway, Metrotown, Signature, and Wolfe Langley.

My advice. Get a Honda.

Unless, you like average service and a car that looks like a clown.

EDIT: I did buy a Toyota Previa. The only other non-Acura/Honda vehicle I've owned. No sticky gas pedal, but let's say when side flip-out windows and windshield wipers fall off, it wasn't a great experience either. Motor was solid as hell, though.

Cool. If it's a new car, don't forget to have them throw in some freebies. Like mud flaps and floor mats. Mention this toward the end of the haggling. Other thing you might try is to get accessories and parts at reduced prices or even at wholesale cost. Ask them to introduce you to the parts department. You are ready to buy and they want your business. Be nice about it, but ask for as much as possible. Your dad bought a car there before, so it helps.

It's not a used car I decided I'd rather pay money towards a car that would be mine in the long run plus is my first car so I'm probably going to want to change some things up in the future. Also I could ask for to much because the car was used there was an accident but they showed us all the bcaa and icbc stuff also I ended up noticing damage on the front so there fixing the headlight another thing was the seats were kinda dirty look like jean marks so there going to shampo the seats or do something high tech to get the marks off , my dad got them to throw in mad flaps in the back maybe I can try and get some more.

GET THE HONDA!!!
My wife had a Mazda 3 and the damned steering locked up on us while we were driving the Coquihalla, it was terrifying to say the least! We took it back to the dealer and we were very dissatisfied with how we were treated. So we left the car at the dealer and went and bought a sweet white Chevy HHR. We're still dealing with Mazda over this.
The lil Chevy HHR gets great fuel mileage and everyone loves it.
Again, if you only got the 2 choices then go for the Honda.
Cheers!
