Where to buy mesh office chair? Hi everyone, I'm looking to pick up a mesh chair to replace my current one. Can't really seem to find one that matches my requirements: 1) has wheels, height/back tilt adjustment 2) full mesh back, goes above head (ie doesn't stop at shoulders) 3) doesn't cost $800 or something insane. Ideally under $200 is best. I don't care about the brand as long as it's COMFY. Wondering if someone knows an office chair wholesaler or something around the GVRD. Already looked at Staples and Ikea, no dice. Thanks in advance! |
if you didnt like the ones at staples, then its gonna be realll hard to find a nice mesh back chair for under 200. staples has the most affordable variety of chairs. for what you're describing you may have to pay closer to $400-500. chairs aint cheap! |
^ Thanks for the tip. :D To be honest I don't mind spending a bit more as I'll be sitting on this thing for 12h/day easily. Okay, so say for $400+ then, where can I go locally? |

Those do look pretty neat, but I don't think my boss would appreciate me looking like I'm playing Maximum Tune all day. :D |
^^ never know he might want one too |

I think there is this office store at abeerdeen that sells mesh office chairs for <200. quality was not the best, but it looked decent |
Which part of chair do you want mesh? If it is just the back there are a few.. cheapest at Ikea.. more long lasting like Herman Miller and Human Scale you can get from Brooks Corning. If you want the seat pan to be mesh the only one is Herman Miller Aeron.. you can get it direct from Brooks Corning in YaleTown (if they still make them). http://www.brookscorning.com/Brix?pageID=539 Herman Miller list price ~ 1800 (I am not sure they even make Aeron anymore). Humanscale is about $1000. One good thing about buying direct from Brooks Corning is if you have a tear on the mesh, you get replacement for free.. which usually is about $300 for each part. |
Aeron is definitely still available... http://www.hermanmiller.com/Where-To-Buy It'll cost about a thousand bucks though. |
I've got an Office Depot chair that's full mesh, bought it about 3 years ago for $380 US. It's the only chair Office Depot had that was rated at Intensive Use 8+ Hours. Kinda hard to find full-mesh chairs now, though. I haven't seen one in recent years at either Office Depot or Staples. Worth checking south of the border, if you can, though. |
Check out Aberdeen Center! They have an office furniture store that sells a few different chairs along with a few other office work stuff. I think they sell for $179 It has mesh in the back Wheels adjustable height and the backing goes right to the back of your head |

I got my Contessa chair off ebay for 420USB shipped to Bellingham. Picked it up at greyhound and the chair is better than the Aeron that I've been for the last 3 years. Gotta love Giugiaro design. I don't know about you guys, but I spend around 9hrs in front of PC between work/fun. Don't cheap out on the chair. http://www.italdesign.it/dinamic/pre...cont_foto2.jpg |
^ Does your butt overheat from sitting on that thing? I was leaning towards butt mesh. |

My FAVOURITE office chair, and the first time i sat on one of these at EA, i almost creamed my pants... |
there is a warehouse you can check out, not too sure what their business hour is. but if you go at noon on a weekday they should be open. also not sure if they're still there. their location is just between rupert and renfrew. don't remember what its called. if you go west on lougheed/broadway from rupert, you'll hit a flashing green light (3 way intersection). bust a left and it's just down the hill on the right side. it's a warehouse that sells office furnitures like desks and stuff.. they have office chairs. |
Not my pic, look past the stupid troll doll. I have this chair, Ikea Markus, and really like it. The only downside I have is the lumbar support height is not adjustable, I wish I could raise it since I'm taller. Slammer, it should be a perfect fit for your height, and it close to your price range at $250. This was posted before, and was my 2nd choice for a chair: http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...affixedcode=WW http://pici.se/pictures/eVxnNmkAc.jpg |

Contessa is better than aeron IMO because it's overall softer. In prolong seating, I find my lower body (specially the butt/thigh area) stiffer on the Aeron than Contessa. Plus, there are way more adjustments on Contessa to truly define what you body needs. Quote:

A bit out of budget unless you find a good deal on craiglist I know some engineering companies clear out offices full of these once in awhile... the original Herman Miller Aeron (started the mesh tilt design, etc) http://www.hermanmiller.com/MarketFa...ron_work_1.jpg |
Maybe I have a cheap ass since I'm a cheapass, but I actually don't particularly like my Herman Miller Aeron at work... I find chairs with cushioning to be more comfortable. :p |
