why would they be? they know the olympics are gonna happen whether they like it or not - so they might as well make the best of it.

ppl who hate the olympics need to think like the junkies, and make the best out of the situation instead of humiliating the country, province, city and themselves in front of the world.

The 'junkies' aren't making the best out of the Olympics - they're just being themselves on camera and repeating what they're told. What do they have to 'believe' about the Olympics? Most don't have a place to live, let alone a TV to watch the games. Sure, they can probably go to some public place to watch the games on a giant screen outdoors, but they won't have time for that. They need to scrounge for food and find a way to pay for their addictions. The Olympics aren't going to produce some 'economic spinoff' that's going to bring money to the DTES and it's not bringing any festivities to their neighborhood.

They don't give a shit about the Olympics, and vice versa.

put the 6 billion into homelessness and there's still gonna be fucking junkies on the street if not moreso because they know theres funding here

Junkies r not the problem. Dealers are. Take out the dealers and the junkies will be gone.

I've arrested several of the people you have in that video in the past.

If your video is trying to prove a point, you've definitely chose the wrong casts to showcase your opinion.

We have less than a week until the opening ceremony begins, whether you like it or not, IT'S GONNA HAPPEN.

Mr.HappySilp 02-06-2010 12:42 AM

To be honest I don't care about this whole winter games. I don't see why people think the winter games is OMFG is such a big event. Well is not, is nothing at all. Is not a big event when you compare it to other major world events (Summer games, World Cup etc etc........).

Not even terrorists would waste their time and money to try to plan a terrorist attack on the winter games.

Qmx323 02-06-2010 12:45 AM

ajax 02-06-2010 12:59 AM

That guy with the chicken and smoke is on BAMF!!!

goo3 02-06-2010 04:57 AM

So you guys wouldn't have built the Canada Line, convention centre, or upgrade the Sea2Sky but instead throw $3.5 Billion @ the homeless and still solve nothing?

Funny video, I sometimes walk thru Hastings and I've seen some of those guys before.

yeah she's kinda cute actually, specially how she said "believe"

T2000 02-06-2010 10:42 AM

trust me shes not hot or cute at all..that little clip was after 20 minutes of her looking in a mirror(or her reflection on some store window) and putting make up on. we actaully had to go talk to other people and come back to her cause it took her so long to put it all on , and the whole time she was talking to herself as if we were still standing there waiting for her, she was hopped up on goofballs.

StylinRed 02-07-2010 06:31 AM

^^^ well i met her when she first turned up downtown(when i was volunteering i should make clear) she was actually hot and had rich buggers chasing her from the dt core

but she quickly turned out differently due to her addiction, i guess im just seeing her past even when seeing her now

TRD Rs200 02-07-2010 07:01 AM

OMFG YOU HAVE TO SEND THAT TO CTV!

but i still dont fucking believe. and I swear I saw one of them sleeping in dt. not too surprising i guess

twitchyzero 02-07-2010 10:37 AM

so what's the deal, are these junkies still going to be locked up during the games? or was that just to scare them so they'll go hiding somewhere?

lol at the dumb comments on the youtube video "every city has homelessness". They don't realize DTES = most addicts and HIV infected part of north america.

I HIGHLY doubt that

so these sections of LA, new york, etc. where it's basically a city of homeless have less addicts? right..

have you ever even been through DTES? the section thats actually bad is like 5 square blocks, it's -nothing- compared to large american cities

twitchyzero 02-07-2010 05:05 PM

mm yeah i volunteered in the area before
statistics don't lie

I worked at gastown and had to go through DTES several times to catch skytrains and buses at night and I felt relatively safe. However, compared to LA's skidrow, it's a whole different story.
