| All my applications are asking me to "Open With..." Problem fixed. I leave my computer on 24/7.
I went to bed last night, and the PC was fine.
This morning, I wake up and see a bunch of "XP Guardian" stuff.
I was like.... wtf is this? I don't even have any firewall or anti-virus programs
installed. And I just reformatted my computer 3 days ago.
So I googled this, and it says "XP Guardian" is some fake anti-virus program,
and is actually a virus/spyware pretending to be a legit anti-virus program...?
I'm confused how this could even happen when I'm asleep and no one's using the computer and nothing was being downloaded or apps running. Anyway, I figured, whatever. I'll system restore. System Restore usually solves everything for me. So I go and do that.
When windows boot up again, that's when things start going crazy.
All my shortcuts or applications, .exe, .mp3, etc
gives me this pop up window that asks me to "Open With..."
(It's surprising I even got my Chrome browser to open right now).
But even when I tell my .mp3 to open with windows media player, it will still
not run. So something's really messed up.
And here's the thing... I've already tried to do a Windows repair Install.
Wasted an hour doing that... And it didn't fix it... so what the hell????
Pls help asap. I need to do my work.

Are you able to boot into safe mode? How do things respond in there? If you can, download and run Malwarebytes

Hey, I just found out the problem...
something to do with my .exe thing gone in my registry.
I just downloaded a fix and got it back into my registry.
lol, I have Malwarbytes.. but couldn't get that running earlier.
I guess I better run that now.

Use Anti-Malware and Spybot (both of them) to clean out any remaining worms/spyware/virus' hanging around.
I think those two are the best.

Only way to be sure you've gotten rid of it permanently is to reformat and reinstall.
