I think it's because he would become one of them. Snafu didn't want Sledge to inherit the attributes that Snafu dislikes in himself and the others. In the book, it wasn't Snafu who told him to stop, it was a doctor. Sledge mentions it here: http://books.google.ca/books?id=Qttb...=germs&f=false |
Funny even back then they were disusing the merits of a super charger. |
what's a super charger? |

Seven episodes in...I can safely say this is not as good as Band of Brothers. |
Part VIII is the best of the series thus far. Part IX, from the preview, looks to top it. |
Cannot wait for IX, looks like the action will really pick up in the next episode, and will bring back more Snafu! |

Yes. It hasn't been very good but maybe I'm just comparing it too much to Band of Brothers. |
I think Pt.8 is the best part of the series so far as well. |
i would agree as well if BoB is a 10/10 i'd say at this point the pacific is a 7 for such a limited amount of characters you never really feel attached like you did in BoB |
Episode 9 is the best episode of the series. |

wow... this series really sucked I'd say about 3 of the 10 episodes were decent, I cant believe I wasted 10 hours of my life watching this show! |
A big problem was they cast guys that all sort of look the same and the story puts them all in mud and rain so they're even less recognizable. Seriously, apart from Sledge, Snafu, Leckey, and Basilone, who do you know here? How many years has it been since Band of Brothers and I can STILL name 15-20 guys from that series. There was also far too much sitting around and just about all the war scenes were filmed in a very generic, confusing way. I expected much more from Iwo Jima and such. But again, the biggest problem was the characters here. You don't get the same empathy with them as you did with the guys in BoB. |

Well much like BoB, it takes a bunch of rewatching to know all the characters. I liked a lot of the supporting guys like Hoosier, Chuckler and Sanfu. |
Snafu is the only reason to watch this show. It seems so random and incoherent, none of the stories really connected. But I guess that was the Pacific war itself.. going from one island to another, fighting a disgusting gruesome war against weaker enemies with better position who probably should have just surrendered. |
Basilone's story is the most interesting part of the series, IMO. |
awesome series, you guys just need to get off BoB dick. |
The Pacific, wasn't that bad, it had it's own up's and downs; personally though, the pacific is huge, lot's things went down. Especially the offensives. If the show was a bit more than just 10 parts, I think it would of been much better. |
I agree. From what I've read, it sounds like they compressed a lot of the stuff that actually happened to fit the short episodes. If they just doubled or halved he amount it woulda been so much better. Hell I woulda settled for even lengthening the eps by like 10 more minutes. |
