It was a good series but nowhere near as good as band of brothers. I think if the pacific had come out first people would be giving it higher ratings, everyone was expecting it to be just as good as band of brothers and were dissapointed when it wasn't. |
if BoB is a 10/10 i'd say the pacific is a 7 there were some good episodes but I would have rather seen the fighting drawn out over a few episodes rather than the Leckie BS etc. for a 10 part series with less main characters than BoB you never really feel connected to them, alot of the character building is pretty much filler Basilone and Sledge were the most interesting to follow, good series none the less, but imo i liked Generation Kill better as a mini series |

I just watched all of Band of Brothers again. Every episode that ended, I wanted to watch the next. I often look forward to watching the entire series again. I can't say the same for The Pacific. This isn't a rant about how The Pacific doesn't compare to BoB. It's just me trying to figure out the inexplainable qualities that BoB has which draws viewers in so deeply. |
just watching this the first time and on blu-ray this show isn't comparable to BoB but I think to truly appreciate it you have to watch it with the field guide to understand its full scope (their efforts in relation to the entire war...the homefront's attitude and backing with war bonds etc. It's good refresher to my history 12 lessons and it even went about pointing out in the Peliliu invasion where they had a 30% casualty = was really unnecessary in the grand scheme things. Apparently the same # of men died on that D-day invasion compared to D-Day in Normandy but no one talks about it). on blu-ray it's jaw-dropping, the visuals are better than BoB and the surround sound is top-notch. I'm glad I waited for the full HD release along with subtitles & features.. |
Visuals better than BoB? I'll have to take your word for it. The last 2 episodes of BoB had some fantastic scenes. EG: the hotel by the lake, Eagle's nest.. I don't remember any scenes in The Pacific where I went "Wow" like in BoB. I remember lots of rain. |
this looks like something u'd wanna see i wanna watch it |

The Pacific has more vibrant colours...especially the d-day scene on peleliu and a lot of backdrops when they were the on ship and you can see every bit of dirt and ash hit the marines' face when a nearby mortar strikes high-def digest always has pretty good review on BD quality and i think this is pretty accurate BOB:http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/247/bandofbrothers.html pacific: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/3151/thepacific.html check out images here: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film3/blu-r...ic_blu-ray.htm |
