Korea's Golden Girl had facial Cosmetic Surgery

Who? 'Queen' Yu-Na

Feb 28th, 2010

People are looking for the photos and details of Kim Yu-Na of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics because they are wondering whether Kim Yu-Na is a natural beauty or she has gone through plastic surgery. Being one of the top-earning athletes in this year’s Winter Olympics, Kim Yu-Na has been surrounded by controversy in terms of her natural beauty. According to Forbes, only Shaun White and Kim Yu-Na have earned a total of $7.5 millions in 2009. Kim Yu-na has also signed in for Nike, Hyundai Motors, Kookmin Bank and also has a personalized phone product called the Yu-Na Phone and a lot more endorsements. At the age of 19, she is now a millionaire as she dominates the ice rink.

Despite of Kim Yu-Na’s plastic surgery issue, her performance during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics was superb.

Standing 164 cm tall and weighing 47 kg, Kim’s lower body from waist to the ankle bone measures 96 cm, almost double the length of her torso, which is 50 cm. Fashion stylist Kim Seong-il said, “With normal people, if the ratio of the upper and the lower body is 4.5:5.5, we consider them long-legged. Because of her long legs, Kim’s jumps look bigger and more elegant.”

Just how important is physical beauty to Koreans? The Chosun Ilbo published the results of a survey which sought to find out the answer. The researchers found that eight out of ten Korean women over the age of 18 feel they need cosmetic surgery, and that one out of two has undergone cosmetic surgery at least once. 69.9% of the respondents said that they suffered stress because of their appearance. In addition, 81.5 percent of women between 25 and 29 felt the need for cosmetic surgery and 61.5 percent of that group said they have already had it. Only 20.4% of respondents felt that surgery should be avoided if at all possible.

Greenstoner 03-01-2010 01:24 PM

she is korean

Jsunu 03-01-2010 01:25 PM

Not really a big deal. Doesn't really affects how she skates though.

Also the article speculative rather than stating that in fact did have any plastic surgery.

She's so young that she could've went through a transitional phase in her appearance fairly recently, I wasn't the best looking guy in high school either. Plus she obviously wears a lot of makeup in competition

tonyvu 03-01-2010 01:32 PM

well when your competing and the whole world is watching, wouldn't u wanna look good doing it?

bcedhk 03-01-2010 01:32 PM

pretty 'capital obvious' that she had plastic surgery done

i would applaud the plastic surgeon who did her face. looks good.. not like some .. just search up solbi.. shes a mess thanks to her crappy plastic surgeon.

that's a stupid comparison on her looks. they're comparing pics of her from when she was a kid to now. of course she's going to look different. ppl's looks change in 1-2 years even, not to mention makeup makes a huge difference. I dont see any maybe changes, but even if she did, who cares lol, it's korea and having cosmetic surgery is like changing your clothes everyday.

+1

Some people are comparing photos of her when she was 13 or 14 to her age now. Everyone looks different from their preteens/teens compared to their adult years. And her facial features shouldn't matter in the Olympics; it's an athletic competition not a pageant. If the athletes have nice features, be it natural or 'aftermarket' it's a bonus :p Just look at the Olympics hotties thread
Athletes aren't disqualified because of plastic are they?

Are braces considered plastic surgery then? Braces are still artificial alteration of one's appearance.

Yea, kids change so much during puberty. Look at many of the hottest women in the world, I bet many of them look like crap during elementary school

Gunsmokez 03-01-2010 03:01 PM

OMG a KOREAN girl that has undergone surgery!! WOW never seen that before

HondaGuy 03-01-2010 03:08 PM

Wow, sponsored by Nike is a definite since its sports related.
But by car manufacturer (Hyundai) as well??? Thats surprising...well, moneys money.

wouwou 03-01-2010 03:10 PM

Unless she did it for performance enhancement, wtf cares about a Korean girl with after market parts?

tool001 03-01-2010 03:11 PM

wow and she still looks ugly

Wayne Gretzky and Tiger Woods (among others) have done car commercials....

Iceman-19 03-01-2010 03:25 PM

Who the fuck cares?

Onassis 03-01-2010 03:46 PM

Her face is more Aerodynamic now regardless

babykiller 03-01-2010 04:31 PM

Why even show a picture of her as a child? I look nothing like my ultrasound. Unless the pic of her as a kid has like two noses or something, it just hurts the argument.

SkinnyPupp 03-01-2010 04:39 PM

FAIL. What fucking Korean actress/athlete/famous person hasn't had major surgery? That's why they all look like fucking robots.

FI-Z33 03-01-2010 04:53 PM

i really don't get the point of this
remember the thread with the two girls? they looked really ugly, until they put on make up and everything..and then they looked pretty
plus, those pictures of her are old, she's nineteen right now, a lot has changed since those pictures, it doesn't necessarily mean she's undergone plastic surgery..
and as the people above have said..she's KOREAN

haha I was thinking about it too. Actually braces helps more than just looks. By making the teeth even, cleaning is much easier and less food get stuck. Lower the chance of gum disease/bone loss around teeth. So healthier teeth and less visits tot he dentist. :)
