Glowing Hearts Day http://www.news1130.com/news/local/a...ating-olympics VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - An online petition is aiming to give B.C. a statutory holiday in February in honour of the 2010 winter Olympics. Petition creator Kate Holmes is proposing the third Monday of every February be called 'Glowing Hearts Day'. "Having a day to help celebrate and remember our great Olympic experience, it sort of morphed into a provincial holiday, because I know lots of people in B.C. have been hoping for a February holiday anyway. So, we just thought we could capitalize on that and really make it our own." B.C. doesn't have a February holiday even though other provinces celebrate Family Day, Louis Riel Day and Islander Day. The petition will be submitted to the Premier. Cool! sign the petition guys, we need another stat holiday |
 Get on with your lives, people |
What......you don't want another stat holiday? It's been talked about for a while now that we needed an extra stat holiday. Also compared to other provinces we have fewer. |
I hate stat holidays, all the working bums are off work, creating more traffic and making places busy  |
Not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, anything honoring the 2010 Olympics has my support...on the other hand, this just seems like a rather stupid idea. Quote:
"You weren't there, man! You don't know!" |
Even more reason not to do it. They want to make a fucken statutory holiday so a few thousand people can remember the fun they had for a couple weeks in February? I get that it was a good time and all. But seriously, people need to get over it! |
We already have a holiday for this purpose. It's called Canada Day. July 1st. |
we should have a stat for Chinese new years  better reason then the olympics |
the games are over.. time to move on. I don't mind having a holiday in Feb but not for that reason. if that holiday does happen, then we should all have a holiday on Alex Burrows's B-day because he's a monster. |
the games were nice and all. It was a huge party and I understand that a lot of people enjoyed it. But really? A stat holiday to CELEBRATE and COMMEMORATE? WTFSAWCE |
stat holiday would be nice, but there are many other better reasons for one |
i agree stats holiday for chinese new years |
Online petition = lulz. It was great. WAS. Time to move on. BTW, stat holidays do vary from province to province. Though, for instance, Family day is a stat in Alberta, there is no statutory August holiday (like BC day - their Heritage day is a civic holiday). As another example, remembrance day is not a stat in Ontario. |
i'd be up for another stat.....another paid day to sleep in...lol |

they should let us have yom kippur, lunar new year and vaisakhi as stat holidays:haha: |
We should have Family Day here. |
what a dumb idea. you don't need a holiday to remember the Olympics. first the anthem, now this. what next? |
oh my.. |
The problem with this (not a bad idea, kind of) is that by defining ourselves as great by an event that's done and gone and will never come again just makes us more of a loser. It's like your buddy's uncle who seems really cool at first cause of all the stories he tells but then you find out he's 50, living in his parents basement, and he's telling all the same stories from 30 years ago. I'd be much more in favour of Canada Hockey Day, commemorating the day we whipped the yanks on home soil. Posted via RS Mobile |
^ and instead of a moment of silence, at whatever the exact time was when we won, everyone give a good loud "LUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" |

It will never... NEEEEEEVER happen. |
i dont mind adding 1 more stat day |
as long as I get a day off in Feb I will be fricken happy. I honestly don't give a fuck what its called. The first 3 months always suck with out having a holiday and tossing one in there would be awesome. |
we should have a stats day. think about it. After new year, the next stat is easter. That's a 3-3.5 months gap. Ppl need some time off |
