You'll have to ask the people pushing the propaganda. Sometimes it's just about the message itself, and pushing your beliefs on people. Other times, it's for profit. Some people make a living pushing this shit out there, and wouldn't be able to do so without that ability. The WWF for instance. You think people run that multi-million dollar corporation during their spare time as volunteers? |
don't we already have daylight's saving for this already? |

If you're gonna call studies BS, at least rationalize what makes these studies so BS. BC Hydro profiting from 1 hour of surplus is peanuts. The point of the campaign IS to raise awareness. Calling people idiots because they have a different point of view just makes you look arrogant. |
how much damage is done when the world turns on the power all at once? |
As much damage as GSP kicking Hardys ass. Did that answer your question? Posted via RS Mobile |
I agree with SkinnyPupp. What is their ultimate goal? To get us to go back to using candles and oil lanterns??? There are THOUSANDS of better ways to save energy than turning off our lights. |
debating with skinnypupp is waste of time and energy good for you if you want to participate turning your light off, it doesnt harm anyone if you dont participate in that either.... |
fuck that , Saturday night at 830, i'l be raiding with my clan members, it can't be dark. pfft who needs earth when you have Azeroth. |

Earth Hour is a fucking joke...I have an Earth night every night where I turn every single electronics off aside from alarm...where's my fucking credit? |
will the street lights be off? also, should wouldn't it be dangerous to drive without headlights at night? |
The thing I dislike about Earth Hour is the thing I dislike about every "awareness" campaign; people do one tiny thing once a year and then feel like they've done their part. I'm totally cool with having this kind of initiative, but it really bugs me when people get all 'holier than thou' on you. There are TONS of things you can do to save energy on a regular basis that result in far higher net gains. My mom and I turn off the furnace in our house from late spring 'til early fall. Our hot water heater's temperature is lower than "normal" for north america so that it takes less energy to heat. All the bulbs in our house are those low-mercury long-energy bulbs (I know, I know, making them is dirtier than using them but fuggit, it saves money). Unplugging everything whenever not in use or using switched power bars, and turning off ALL lights when not in use. Insulating all windows and doorways... Ask the people who pimp earthday if they are so enthused about changing their daily habits and see the reactions you get. That's my problem with earth hour. Posted via RS Mobile |
it'd be hypocritical of me to join Earth Hour when I: a) drive back and forth to work in a gas guzzler b) leave my computer on through the day to let downloads finish c) my entire office uses paper like trees are infinite. it's not just me. the whole society will be a bunch of hypocrites to participate in this. Las Vegas join Earth Hour? what is that going to solve...? |
i thought Earth Hour are just a sign of support in saving energy, it's not like a mandatory thing or else bc hydro would just fuking shut down the power in every residential housing i will turn it off...if i remember....if i dun then too bad lights still gonna be on....just like every year |
