wow 86 cant even make it in 1st round? engineering doesn't have supplemental or broader-based admission right? I swear just few years ago you can make 2nd round with high 70's..now i'm also hearing arts you need a low to mid 80's

wtf is wrong with ubc..see this is why abolishing provincial exams is a horrible idea... when there is no standardization you get fob kids attending night school and getting inflated grades.

our ministry of education is messed up, seriously.

EDawg 05-07-2010 03:02 AM

if you're really worried, just do the supplemental, its not hard.

if you don't get admitted because you didn't do it, then that was just stupid

buffon 05-07-2010 08:32 AM

I did do the supplemental app, but I don't think it's that good. I did it on the last day with a couple hours left before the 12 AM deadline. When do they review my application again? I heard mid-May.

Do you guys know the conditional offers they give? Do I have to keep an 86 average?

honestly, just don't fuck up. If you have a 94% average right now, how hard will it be to keep it above 86? just keep studying and doing your work, you've been through almost 5 years of HS already, what's another 1.5 months?

no kidding. must be those damn richmond schools and their low standards for english classes letting all these fobs into universities. you might as well drop a class if you get paired with 3 fobs in a group since you'd be doing the whole project yourself anyways.

shit like 95% (from high school) to get into SFU business is retarded.

sekin67835 05-20-2010 01:00 AM

i have a 89% and got admitted to UBC engineering. No supplemental.
they don't check your term 3 marks, you have to get above 67% for the four courses. (english, math, phys, chem)
And you have to do the English provincial worth 40%.

buffon 05-22-2010 08:45 AM

Damn man 89? There's no way I can get in with 86. Fuckin mofos keep giving me their UBC Okanagan offers for me to accept even though I didn't apply for it. They just want to make the most money possible lol.

sekin67835 05-25-2010 07:11 PM

there is 5 more days. Last year, my sister's friend got into engineering with 82. I guess this year was higher. In the beginning of april, arts needed a 88 percent for 100% acceptance. Mid april it was lowered to 86 i think (family friends got in). Than commerce was 88-100%. you need SUPER SUPER good supplemental as always. Other friend got into biology with 91%.

Benz_05TSX 05-26-2010 08:51 AM

I say do it anyways because it shows you really care and want to be in UBC. Also, it couldn't hurt. If your year has ALOT of smart people, which is quite often nowadays, and everyone's average is around yours if not higher, then they will look at your supp. app. Don't regret it...

buffon 05-26-2010 09:39 AM

Do what? Accept the UBC-O offer? I already have a supp app but I don't think they looked at it since it doesn't say on their site, and it's a pretty shitty app lol.

buffon 05-31-2010 11:40 AM

Also, should I decline the UBC-O offer they gave me or let it expire? What will look better when they review my Vancouver application again?

Does the cutoff also go down after June 1 because of people accepting/declining their offers? Thanks for the help.

I got into ubc commerce around this time last year with mid 80% average

4chinit 06-03-2010 11:31 PM

what the hell, i got into ubc engineering 1st round 2 years ago with marks that are no where as good as your marks. Except for a high math mark, my average was around 80, and that is a high estimate.

Was so relieve to hear that i got in, i slacked the last two terms of high school with skipping and minimal studying for provincials and still managed.

Ya I really don't understand how I'm still not in lol. Although, I still have a chance since I'm on hold. I also have a high math mark.

Are you still in Engineering at UBC? How is it?

4chinit 06-04-2010 10:50 AM

Its everything everybody says it is.

Heavy course load, lack of girls.

woob 06-04-2010 11:05 AM

Got into engineering 2 years ago with an 86 avg at time of marks submission and dropped to 82 at the end of the year.

The courseload isn't even that heavy. 6 courses in 1st year was meh, 5 courses was even easier. It's in 2nd year that you feel the burn, especially if you go into Fizz or Civil, where you'll have a term with 7 (yes, seven) courses.

Oh and if you get ins with the prank crowd, UBC Eng is fucking hilarious.
