yea, chinatown kinda made its way over to Richmond. lol

hk20000 03-16-2010 03:41 PM

and the adsense immediately showed an ad of LED lights. NICE.

They should just go LED all over the place like Nathan Road uses them to replace the flourescent light behind the sign boxes now.

JSALES 03-16-2010 07:55 PM

The Chinese have Richmond, Vancouver, and Burnaby. Chinatown is obsolete and pointless in Vancouver!

Gunsmokez 03-16-2010 09:19 PM

shit that picture of HK reminds me of "Young and Dangerous" Don't mess or I'll chop you up!

Iceman_2K 03-16-2010 10:42 PM

neon lights won't mean shit if they don't have nightlife down there. A few lounges opening up doesn't mean anything. They need to bring a lot more down there if they want to bring life to that part of town.

StylinRed 03-16-2010 10:46 PM

they need to stay open later, do shows HK style with those cheap little operas etc and have dai pai dongs open etc etc especially during the weekends to revitalize the area... the nearby homeless aren't the issue they're just a scapegoat

it was weird going through chinatown during the olympics and seeing everything closed

i expected the business minded chinese would keep that place open 24/7 but i guess all the business oriented folks have moved elsewhere to richmond etc and the remnants don't have that energy

The Situation 03-16-2010 10:54 PM

The only people who frequent Chinatown (outside of bums) are frugal old seniors. That's just the sad truth. Last time I was down there, a granny grabbed my fucking ass; I've had nightmares since.

iPee 03-17-2010 12:33 AM

ahhhhh so that sign is new
drove by awhile ago and saw it then got me thinking was it always there guess not

death_blossom 03-17-2010 12:53 AM

I agree that Chinatown needs a push to get more nightlife in there. The neon sign and the opening of Fortune Sound Club is a start.

It definitely was not the Chinatown from 15-20 years ago. :(

Time for lounges and clubs to invade Chinatown.....

Iceman_2K 03-17-2010 08:01 PM

if stores and places to eat opened till 12, and there were lounges and stuff open, i'd think of going. Even if it was just on Sat and Sun. A lot of the times, there's nothing really to do on the weekends and you just want somewhere to go.
