just got my copy last night :) any tips while u ride ur horse?

are you suppose to hold a and tap it once in awhile?

my horse pisses me off sometimes when im trying to turn


also i notice if you press a near something like an obstacle the horse automatically jumps for you so whats the point of the x jump button?

i tap until there's 1/3 stamina left..then i hold until there's 2/3 or 1/2 full then i repeat the process.

i need a horse with better stamina...

don't you have the war horse?? the one that comes with the game free?

I think that horse is epic =P

so i was playing and it got dark then there was this dude that tried to rape/kill this girl and i manage to red-eye or wahtever and shoot him in the leg but he died.

my question is .. in scenarios like this does it matter if i kill him or just knock him out?

I've found when I tie them up / knock them out, sometimes other townsfolk start to fight me. Almost like at a certain point, they forget about the attempted rape and just think I'm beating the shit out of some dude. Now I always shoot them, no hassle.

im still preety early into the game, how do i learn how to tie em up?

You have to wait until you completed the mission where you get the lasso. Then in another mission that rancher lady teaches you how to lasso.

i just started playing this game on multiplayer and i am finding it really hard/frustrating. Seems like people just camp behind a wall and use the third person view to wait for people to come near, pop up, and kill them. It is super frustrating, especially if you just spawned in the open and dont have a gun yet.

Free roaming the gang hideouts with friends is fun though

ahh that explains it lol i been trying to shoot people in the leg and then knocking em out to try and capture em but no luck

it's a legit tatic..everyone uses it in 3rd person shooters:D
just sucks when auto-aim is on though and people are camping

i picked up my copy @ best buy, and it came with it. and i did not pre-order...

hows the online activity in GTA4 and Episodes of Liberty City?

the concept of open world, do anything multiplayer kinda wore out quick, but i remember playing online in GTA4 for like 4 months intensely, i loved it.. and then me and everyone else i knew just stop playing it

im assuming same thing will happen with RDR, online community will very much be alive for months, then dwindles down in less than a year

I got this game a while ago. I finished it in about 21 hours with 79 percent completion, played the good guy (same ending for both).

Pros: GTA got really old, so it's great to see the western story line from Rock star. I played Bully, GTA and this one and I'm not a a huge fan of open world. GTA had an awesome story, but this one's ending was sort of interesting I guess. Not epic, but interesting. You can play being a good guy or bad guy as some of you said but after a while you don't give a shit no more.

eg// some mexican asks for help, and after all this trouble you get 17 bucks in return....er no THANKS. I get a thousand dollars after a few rounds of poker and solid cash from liar dice also.

Oh, and when some dude ask for help, you stop your horse and they punch you and steals your horse... wtfffff. i stood up, took my double - piped shot gun and blew his brains out... retards...

The story was decent, the voice overs and everything else was just solid. It just felt like a movie.

Cons: DAMNNNN riding on a horse to diff places is just so so boring. Yes you can take a taxi in GTA or you can steal a lambo and there's so much to see on the streets. You can't do that in RDR. It's the ONLY thing I didn't enjoy seeing the horse riding all day long.
Their explaination on how use some of the skills eg// dead eye was just epic gay. I found a neat way to win lots of money in poker so monetary rewards wasn't a huge hit for me.

In some ways, it's similar to GTA but the story kept this game together for me. i think it was worth 9.5 / 10

Yup riding the horse sucked ass while travelling for me too. That's why I never did it and just used fast travel which was sweet. Like I said before not the biggest fan of the game and happily sold it to Vansterdam.

I'm sure it's been mentioned here but too lazy to search. How do you fast travel?

^ in ps3 press select, go to kit, open basic camp site...press travel to destination.

^ im a little lost on that to option as well.

are you suppose to set a waypoint on the map and then use the basic camp site thing?

last time i tried to use it , it wouldent let met forgot what it said

you can't be in a town or gang hide out when you use it..so just ride out to the outskirts of the town/hide out to enable it.

also it won't work when you're doing a bounty mission

Just finished the game. Solid solid solid story. The turning on the horse is a bitch sometimes but other than that, super fun game. Especially when you get the Buffalo Rifle. That shit is a one shot kill at such a far range!

For Xbox press select then press RB once and hit A. You can fast travel to locations or waypoints. You can't fast travel while you're in or really close to a town, hideout etc. But in fact you can be pretty damn close. You just can't literally be at the outside entrance of lets say a town but if you just ride straight for like 5 seconds you will be far enough. Also if the land you're on isn't flat enough that can casue issues but once again just ride towards flatter land for like 5 seconds and you're good.

Pretty annoying bug in the HK version... They mixed up X and O in some menus.. It took me a while to figure out how to even start the game, because the menu says "press X" when really you have to press O. And when playing poker, placing bets is the same button as quitting the game, so every time you bet or call, you have to go through the menu to quit playing poker...

anyone doing the ambient challenges in SP?
which one is the least time consuming to rack up to the 10th rank?
