Refinished my rims..New Look

My rims were really beat up and I needed a new look for my car. I called around town to a couple well known wheel repair shops and ended up going with Western Wheelcraft (http://www.westernwheelcraft.com) after a recommendation from a member of the forums. Apparently they do a lot of the OEM repairs for the dealerships around town as well.

Mike @ WWC did a fantastic job on my rims and it cost me far less than what any of the other wheel repair shops quoted. The finish was spot on (I was looking for a satin black) and the major curbing that I had on my rims before is completely gone. I couldn't be happier.

The great thing about them is that they do mobile repairs too for those who need a quick repair on a rim or two and Mike is an awesome guy to deal with! Here are some pictures.

After (sorry for the water on the wheels. Just washed the car):

If you guys are looking to get your wheels refinished, I definitely recommend western wheelcraft.

cool, my wheels could do with a repair, was always interested but never looked around for places that did it

hal0g0dv2 03-22-2010 05:55 PM

wheels look nice

ALEX1988 03-22-2010 06:03 PM

Nice...
I think I saw you today...hasting+ main around 1 pm...

ShyGuy 03-22-2010 07:21 PM

I went with western wheelcraft because they gave me a great deal.

Mike did tell me that they only do cosmetic wheel repair though. If you have any bends you need to take it to greens/nu brite/panthers.

After seeing the powdercoating thread I thought about brining my wheels there but they didn't do curb repair. It didn't cost me much more to get my wheels repaired and repainted by WWC.

So what were you doing at Main and Hastings at 1pm? :D

mmmk 03-22-2010 07:49 PM

I've been to both Greens and Panthers.
Greens did a shitty job. Panthers charged me an arm and a leg.

I will try out Western Wheelcraft next time I need to fix a set of wheels!

Rob (Spiker) was telling me how awesome these guys are. We should egt them to sponsor Revscene.

BEEB 03-22-2010 09:29 PM

so these HRE's a two piece/three piece wheel?

Did they remove the studs and replace the rubber seal when they're powder coating them?

also, if u don't mind letting me know how much they charge? I've a set of 19's Iforge for my M that needed refinish too...

I met Mike about 3 years back. He did an amazing job on my first set of wheels and I've gone back to him since. It helps that he's a super nice guy to deal with.

Western Wheel Craft ftw!

Hmm going to try these guys next time too. I used Panther's on one of my rims they didn't even respray the barrel and painted over my rivets.

pcanime 03-22-2010 10:45 PM

where are they located at? and how much did they charge your for set of 19"

GabAlmighty 03-22-2010 10:51 PM

Hmm, first time i've heard something "bad" about Panther. I've had them fix a bend in one wheel (cost me $100+tax) and then they comepletely re-did another set of wheels for me. 3 out of 4 were bent, curb rash on all of them and had them all repainted. I could have gotten replicas for cheaper probably, but damn did they do a good job.

felixy69 03-22-2010 11:14 PM

man...how come ur wheels are so beat....i remember back in the BEG of 2009....ur car was mint and i even took a pic of it while driving beside u !! hhahhaha

They do not take apart the wheel. They don't even take off the tire. He just pushes the tire away from the bead and taped off all the studs when he painted them.

His going rate is usually around $150/wheel but it will vary depending on damage.

My wheels got all curbed during a car meet at oakridge mall. It was in the middle of March last year and it was a nice sunny day. Then outta no where it started snowing like crazy. I tried to get out of the parking lot in the light snow and ended up sliding into the curb.

Mike tells me he's in the process of getting a second truck so he should be able to handle more business. He's currently pretty swamped with dealer contracts.

Mike at Western WheelCraft is a GREAT guy. I work at Richmond Lexus and i see him every week sometimes more.
He does great work and his crew are all very nice guys.

I would recommend anyone to him. I just talked to him on the phone and told him of all the love he was getting from SHYGUY. He is stoked.

I also told him to look into becoming a sponsor. =)

Sorry to go off topic a bit.. M3 looks SICK!!!!! =)
