Photoshop CS5 may change the future of Photography

Watch the whole video!! it's well worth the 5 minutes...

Some of these features are mind blowing, I can only imagin how long some of that stuff would take even using CS4 or the later versions.

That's pretty fucking amazing. You better plan on upgrading your CPU if you're not already running a quad-core though

April 12, mark your calendars!

April 12th is just the announcement date... probably won't be at the earliest till summer.

My PC will be capable to run it if I were to get it, maybe just might upgrade ram.

Amazing as it is, that is kinda detrimental to the art of photography though, IMHO. Photographers are going to get even more lazy...the copyright for one's image won't just belong to him/her, but to Adobe software engineers too!

Ah, that's stupid.

Looking forward to this though, that's for sure. I have SO many pictures that will look a LOT better once I can go through them in CS5

I can imagine the people who do those porno edits being pretty happy about this.

Sure it can 'improve' your photos, but will it still be *YOUR* photo if one uses the tool to the extent as it was used in the video? I mean, if you do all that manually (taking hours upon hours) in Photoshop, I can see the photographer retaining copyright, but this is so automated, that the photographer's hand in the final image is diminished. How can one morally and ethically say, "Yeah, that was all me."? In large commercial shoots where a professional creative retouching studio is used, they also get credit for the final image. Now....?

I can see this is potentially going to be a heated topic tomorrow amongst our professional clientele at Beau.

I see what you're saying but people said the same things about music when digitizers synthesizers became popular. Or when electronic devices and dual clutch systems came to racing.

It's just the next evolution of photography. CS5 won't replace anyone with true talent, that's for sure.

No, totally different, IMHO. A Roland RK-500 or E-80 can't write music for you. You can't program in half of Beethoven's 9th and ask it to extrapolate the rest of the music.

Digital photography should be banned - we should all be shooting transparencies & B&W negs.

i think its amazing but i agree with what you're saying.
digital photography is too 'perfect'. i like the imperfections and challenges in film photography. makes for more interesting photos. everything looks too calculated and perfect nowadays with digital.

as long as there's a way to tell what's fabricated and what's not, i don't think it's a big deal. However, major customers just care about the end result. whether that's disgracing or whatever is open to debate. it's almost like technology is catching up to a point where it threatens a type of skill or art form.
