Sketch Job... Vector Marketing... help please =( Hey everyone, today I went to do an interview at Vector Marketing and I got the job, I gave the interviewer my resume and everything EXPECT my SSN. I want to quit really bad, can I just not show up for training or do I have to sent him a former letter/call to quit? I dont want to get fired and have a bad rating for my future jobs. |
google it you'll be suprised at what comes up |
these are the ads that say they pay starting 16.50/hr for students, no exp necessary? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_Marketing |
Bwahahaha poor guy, you got sucked in to Vector Anyways, just call and say you quit. How is quitting from vector supposed to give you a bad rating? |
It's like one of those morning where you get a phone call and they ask you for an interview and you get really excited and once you get into it and got the job you'll feel emo. For everyone is different but I dont want to be like that who constantly is promoting stuff on facebook or to your family friends/family to buy half a grand of stuff.... I'm just going to call tomrrow and say I quit and say the job wasn't for me |
you dont need to call, just erase them from your memory, you'll sleep better nothing wrong with quitting a shit job by not showing up |
it says 16.50 an hour but the thing is you need to cover all expenses for yourself such as gas and commute if your commission exceeds 16.50 then you will be paid just the commission. i repeat: it is one or the other it was really sketch man. 4 summers ago my friend and I both had an interview for a job at vector marketing and we both got the job on the spot. it didnt feel right being able to land a job just like that. they asked me to sell chinaware and cutlery. I peaced it. |
Yeah, thanks for the help all You actually get $17 PER APPOINTMENT, which means you call your family friend or close friend and you do an appointment at their house and demostrate how the equiptment works. Kinda like the pyrmid scheme in Napoleon Dynamite or Family Guy Ca$h Scam LOL. |
You don't get a bad rating or bad reference because you won't include them on your resume. The only way you would get a bad reference from someone is if you put them on your resume and someone called them. You can call and say you quit or you can just ignore them all together, you owe them nothing. |
poor kid lol |
lol do people not research their jobs before they apply, let alone go in for an interview. |
Next time, do your research. Vector's a big joke for big suckers. Just don't show. The only thing that will affect you in the future is the increase in common sense from this experience. |
Fuck that shit, my friend got recruited by one of the companies selling knives, and they were asking him to pay for a demo set with his own money in order to get started. What kind of company would make you pay for supplies before even training you? I was approached by Primerica a few years ago and same thing, more multi-level marketing bullshit. Recently an acquaintance of mine tried to get me into what sounded exactly like Primerica, so I declined. Few weeks later I bump into an old high-school classmate who just got sucked in by that same acquaintance, and is now trying to recruit me lol. Just do what I did and ignore them... I don't know if they made you sign anything but I nearly handed over a signed contract before I did my research on Primerica. |
Yeah, thanks everyone life lesson learned. Whenever I go apply at places now, I'll do a casual 360 and inspect the area and talk to the workers and see how the work envirnment is. |
i think we all fall for these in the past, most important thing is to learn from it. good kid lol |
so that's what vector does. Good thing to know :) Seen their ads pop up on CL lately. |
Lol is still around? I though it would have been dead by now. |
"good kid lol " LOL |
Sounds like a good job. I'll make an appt with my dog, my friends, family, the bum off the street, anyone. I'll fill up 12hrs a day with appts and no one buying from me. Obviously, this will all take place in my mind as I'm sleeping. Not a bad deal. Posted via RS Mobile |
i think we have all encountered these jobs one way or another. just move on with your job search, and make sure you do a little research before showing up for an interview, or applying. |
i saw those "make $17/hr" ads around sfu. didn't bother with them after they told me i had to pay for a set of knives. |
It's pretty bad if they ask that you have to buy their products then sell it to make money. But yeah lesson learnt ;) It's best to research a company before getting into it. |
Couple years ago I was job hunting and found ad for this same Vector company lol. Shit myself when I saw the 17/hr pay and applied. They called me back very next day and set up an interview. The lady on the phone was shady as hell, said the interview spot would be "behind the pub," so after the call I researched Vector and shit myself some more when I found out what they were like. Called them back and told them I wouldn't be able to make the interview coz I was being deported back to China. Thank god I researched |
LOL that's the best excuse to miss an interview, "being deported back to China". |
Monavie is another one that fucks with people. Posted via RS Mobile |
