Slightly off topic - you're allowed to have two motorcycles in one lane, right?

if you mean riding side by side then no. you're supposed to ride in a staggered formation with the same amount of space between eachother as that of cars.

Good point. If a motorcyclist wants to lane split through me and another car, I should not be responsible for watching out for them. IE: My car is already occupying the lane, I have the right of way in all instances.

Tell that to the cops. Stupid cops always ride side by side and they don't realize that if they have to pull an emergency maneuver they'll have no room to do it. My friends and I always ride staggered. Thanks PRS for instilling that in me.

Exactly the point! When I rode, I always insured that I gave a bit of a twist to my bike after cutting between two cars so as to not inconvenience the car I cut-off. Obviously since it is illegal here, if anything were to happen it would be 100% my fault for lane-splitting. Therefore I always gave them a rider's wave and WOT'd the bitch to get out of the cars way. Time wasted for the car driver = 0.

Lane splitting ftw.
