All I can say is WOW. A car for well under $30K with that kind of performance. This car is an absolute performance bargain. Ford has been doing great these last 2 years and this is another reason why.

Only thing that pisses me off is I never bought Ford shares. :(

And comparing to the 370z? Come on, that car starts at almost $13K more. Pretty sad really. Only car that's close in price is the Genesis 3.8, and it's still $5K more.

You're an idiot. You obviously didn't read the article. The V6 pulls 0.96g on the skidpad, that is fucking amazing!

Z3guy 03-31-2010 07:56 AM

^ I am sure the new Mustang handles well on smooth surfaces. I wonder what Ford has done to calm down the solid rear axle when you hit a mid corner bump?

I fear I am responding to a troll post.

Can you disable the revmatch? I am particularly skilled at matching revs and prefer doing it myself.

At 400hp, 0-60 is more a test for the tires and traction.

There is a button to disable the syncromatch. It is a cool technology, but I love to heal toe!!! I can't do it in my MPS6 (damn pedals)

99.5% of RS'ers couldn't even tell a good handling car from a poor one, and certainly don't know anything about concepts like understeer and oversteer (except for what they read).

So hearing someone say the Mustang handles like shit and another car handles good is like listening to a blind motherfucker explain technicolor.

And because of this, they often equate "easier to handle" to "handles better".

Syncro revmatch is just for the lazy ass's who cant do it, and 4.3 in a car with todays saftey standards is pretty good. 370Z is ugly, looks like a batmobile,

370Z VS 2011 5.0

1/4 Mile: 13.3 VS 12.8
0-60: 4.7 VS 4.3

isn't the GT a bit overpriced when comparing it to the v6? the GT is $38,5

it'd be great if it was cheaper ^^

Iceman-19 03-31-2010 11:56 AM

The GT is always available with the GT 500 wheels/brake package along with a GT500 handling pack, straight from the factory when you order it. Obviously it costs more, but if your going all out, whats a bit more?

Recently they dynoed a pre-production model and it made 395rwhp. Either its an overpowered pre-pro model, or the 412hp is VERY conservative.

flagella 03-31-2010 02:07 PM

^You're right.

http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...ang-gt-50.html

I believe Ford is lying about 412 hp :D

bloodmack 03-31-2010 03:45 PM

These are all test models right? mabye they amped up the power and when its released to public it will put out less? lol

Volvo-brickster 03-31-2010 04:05 PM

after the last cobra issue back in 99/00 i doubt they would underdeliver on hp

Although the one they tested was preproduction, the engine should be exactly the same. Ford is well into Production models now. Job 1 started March 15th, and so there are already quite a few 2011s on the roads in Michigan.

The other thing I just thought of, is that the GT is available with a 3.31 but for Canada a 3.73 is optional.. and it's possible they factored in the wrong final drive ratio.

*cough* '99 Cobras *Cough*

DC5-S 04-01-2010 01:25 AM

damnn, I would seriously consider it if I was buying a new car.

Iceman-19 04-01-2010 06:34 AM

Remember the 03/04 Cobras? rated at 390hp at the flywheel, MANY cars dynoed 370-380rwhp.

CPE 04-01-2010 09:14 AM

Same with the gt500, its nothing new for ford to be underrating their engines.

My customer's 2011 GT coupe is due April 28th. It'll be one of the first retail 2011 mustangs to arrive in the GVRD. There should be some stock units arriving around the same time. Externally, they look exactly the same as the 2010s, except for the 5.0 badge and the different wheels. The major difference is the engine and gearbox.

Last month there was $2000 off any 2011 Mustang order, now there is 3.99% purchase interest. Who knows what it'll be when they arrive early next month.

civic_rice 04-03-2010 01:10 PM

should be good. Looking at our products on the lot, the 2010 taurus, fusion, f150 and focus all just amazing in quality and driving. I have not seen the 11 mustang personally, but i anticipate big things as ford is the margin to beat
